More than 400 people attended the 2023 Upper Valley Electric Vehicle Expo on September 30 at Lebanon (N.H.) City Hall despite rain the entire day and night before the UV EV Expo. They chatted with the drivers of 38 EVs representing 18 different models, and many enjoyed rides. Plus, the Lebanon Ford dealer brought three Mustang Mach-Es and an E-Transit Van, the Town of Hartford (Vt.) displayed its new Toro no-turn ride-on lawn mower, Advance Transit showed off an electric bus, and multiple owners displayed electric bikes, recumbent trikes, and scooters.· EV Basics for Drivers: Why and How To Get an EV; Financial Incentives; Charging, and More, by Dave Roberts of Drive Electric Vermont in a prerecorded talk, followed by live Q&A.
· State Policies: What Role Can We Play? Featuring a representative of Drive Electric NH, Vermont State Senator Rebecca White, NH Representative George Sykes, and local public officials.
· EV Charging: At Home, at Work, or at Public Stations. On home charging: Prof. Charles R. Sullivan, Dartmouth College professor of engineering. On workplace charging: Jessica Wilcox, Granite State Clean Cities Coalition and Peggy O'Neill-Vivanco, Vermont Clean Cities Coalition. On public charging: Sherry Boschert, co-founder, Plug In America.
· E-bikes and Electric Lawn Care. On e-bikes: John Haffner, Vital Communities. On lawn care: Dana Clawson, environmental sustainability coordinator for Hartford, Vt.

Special EV charger raffle! The Cornish Energy Committee is raffling off a gently-used, eight-year-old Siemens VersiCharge 240-volt Level 2 charger. It comes with a 20-foot cord and can be plugged into a NEMA 6-50 outlet or hardwired if you prefer. It requires a 40-amp breaker and draws up to 30 amps. The manual is included. Originally priced at $650, a new one would cost $1,094. Raffle tickets are $5 each, available at the EV Expo. See an online description of the charger.

Directions: Advance Transit starts weekend bus service on Sept. 1 (see advancetransit.com) and the Blue Line stops at Lebanon City Hall. Or drive I-89 to Exit 18, go south at the off-ramp. At the stop sign, turn left onto Hanover Street. As you cross the Mascoma River bridge, turn left into a large parking lot. Drive past the Peking Tokyo building to the lower municipal lot for parking. Fast charging for EVs is available in West Lebanon at a Tesla Supercharger station and DCFC Electrify America chargers. Charging will not be available at the EV Expo site.
