Event Report

Great weather made for a great EV show-and-tell event near downtown Kalamazoo.  Highlights included the Sunseeker Solar race car from Western Michigan University, and the presence of Tesla of Grand Rapids, who brought a Model 3 and a Model X for test drives.  The local LifeCycle bike shop brought some e-bikes for people to check out as well.  We were overflown multiple times by the "Yankee Lady", a B-17 world war II bomber which was flying out of the Kalamazoo Air Zoo all day.

We appreciated the participation once again by Consumers Energy, our local utility, which brought their Chevy Bolt and lots of info about electricity rates and incentives for EV charging at home.

Event Description

Free Drive Electric Event in Kalamazoo

Public welcome!  This will be a great opportunity to see why folks are so excited about the latest Electric Vehicles.  Cars, trucks, bikes, buses,... EVs are the new wave in transportation.  See a variety of EVs up close and in action.  Drivers and other knowledgeable folks will be on site to answer any and all questions.  Representatives from Consumers Energy will also be there to share info on home charging incentive programs.  No schedule, just come any time between 10 and 3 and stay as long or as briefly as you like.

We'll be easy to find in the southeast part of the parking lot of a locally owned grocery store.  The store includes a cafe, but there are other places nearby to get food and refreshments, and we are only about 5 minutes south of downtown Kalamazoo.  See updates on this page and at /KalamazooEVA/ on Facebook.  This should be a great event, if the weather holds.  Big 'thank you' to our hosts at the Midtown Fresh Market, be sure to mention us when you go in and buy your snacks.

EV Drivers:
Please RSVP on this site if you think you can come, and be sure to check in at the main table when you arrive.  It is your choice whether to take people for rides or just do a static display.  For safety, we will try to segregate the display vehicles from the ones that may be going in and out of the parking lot, so let us know your preference when you arrive.  Thanks for spreading the word!

Late bulletin:  Sorry to say that the KPS electric school bus will not be able to attend this year.
