Event Report

San Luis Obispo's Ride & Drive Event boasted the largest variety of test drive vehicles in the event's history, with six dealerships (CB Chevrolet, Mercedes of SLO, Perry Ford, Coast Nissan, Hyundai SLO, and Kia Paso Robles) represented offering test drives in eight different models including:
  • Chevy Bolt and Bolt EUV
  • Mercedes EQS
  • Ford Mach-e
  • Hyundai Ioniq 5 & 6
  • Kia Niro EV
  • Kia EV6 GT
Display vehicles included:
  • Fisker Ocean
  • Nissan Ariya
  • Ford Mach-e
  • Toyota RV4 EV
  • Nissan Leaf
City Councilmember Michelle Shoresman spoke of both her joys and challenges of driving electric. She was at first dismayed that her Chevy Bolt had limited range due to battery issues, but when the local dealer helped facilitate her getting a new battery with a 25% boost in range, her dismay turned to joy! Meteorologist John Lindsey shared his love for driving electric, but was powerless to make the rain go away during our event (though it did stop raining while he and Michelle were speaking!) The foul weather kept many at home, but those who did attend the event and got behind the wheel of one of the EVs are very likely going to soon be driving one of their own!

Volunteers and everyone who took a test drive were treated to a delicious breakfast burrito made to order by the Wicked Garden mobile caterer. Tableware Share provided hot coffee and tasty cookies for all attendees.

City Councilmember Michelle Shoresman shares her personal joys and challenges of driving electric. The cloudy skies and intermittent drizzle kept many people at home. Meteorologist John Lindsey, standing behind Michelle and the Fisker Ocean, predicted the foul weather, but was able to use his magic to keep everyone dry while he and Michelle were speaking!

Event Description

SLO EV RIDE & DRIVE RETURNS TO PREFUMO CREEK COMMONS

Highlights from our 2022 event

Check out a wide variety of electric cars, trucks, and bikes, many of which will be available for a test drive or ride. Featured EVs include the Ford's F-150 Lightning & Mach-e, Hyundai's Ioniq 5 & 6, Chevy Bolts and hopefully, a new Chevy Blazer EV. EV owners of these and other models will be on hand to answer your questions and talk about the joys of driving and riding electric. And be sure to stop in at one of the information booths to find out how you can get over $10,000 in rebates and tax credits to buy or lease an EV.

The SLO EV Ride & Drive event is hosted locally by the SLO Climate Coalition with support from many others whose logos appear below.
