Event Report

We would like to thank the Hastings Public Library for providing us the parking lot space, providing tables, and supporting our event. We would especially like to thank Barbara Haywood for providing the necessary resources and advertising to make our event a success. Paul Pancella, Physics Professor from Western Michigan University provided an informative session to interested attendees about the benefits and requirements of driving a PHEV and EV.  Thanks to Craig Toepfer's and his Ford F-150 Lightning, we saw a demonstration of how EV can work cooperatively for charging

Event Description

Electric Vehicle "Show and Tell" to be held on the parking lot of the public library in downtown Hastings.  We're back, baby!  Everyone is invited to hear about the real-life experiences of EVs from actual owners.  New cars like the Rivian will be present along with many others. This will be your chance to see the features and advantages of a variety of electric vehicles.   There will also be a "EV 101" presentation held in the library's community room from noon to 1 p.m. to discuss the basic differences between owning and operating an electric vehicle vs. ordinary gasoline cars with plenty of time for questions and answers.  Learn about range, charging, maintenance, costs, etc.  All for free!  Hastings now has a public dual-head EV charger on N. Michigan Ave. (parking lot #3) and several rooftop solar power installations.

Extra attractions:  A free community breakfast will be served at Emmanuel Episcopal Church from 8:00 to 9:30 am on event day, just a few blocks away at 315 West Center St.  Also, the Farmer's Market will be going at the same time as our event on the nearby courthouse lawn.
