Event Report

Helped spread the word: Coulee Region Sierra Club (mailing list 800+ people in 8-county area), Sustainability Institute at Western Technical College, Wisconsin Clean Cities, City of La Crosse Climate Action Plan, Xcel Energy, RENEW Wisconsin. I invited our city and county officials. None came. It was a very busy weekend and our attendance was down because of that, I think. Our local paper did not, as they did last year, put any articles or special notices besides the "Today in Your Back Yard" community calendar. In addition to EVs, we had our city's electric bus and several e-bikes. Plus two solar installers were there. We did get coverage from one of the three local television news stations ( ) Among the vehicles attending were two Rivian trucks and one Lucid Air. In addition, we had a TERN and an Urban Arrow e-cargo bike.  As usual, NO car dealers showed up or even contacted us back. This is why I wasn't able to apply for the grant for advertising, because I knew that I could not guarantee dealers would participate. Only one has brought one vehicle in two years (four events) and that was at the first one I held on my own for Earth Day 2021. Lack of paid publicity hurt, I think, but it was just me and one other person. I paid for snacks for the event and the shelter reservation. Others were happy to help publicize but no one offered to chip in. I was not able to get any helpers though I asked at the technical college and the local university and in the general community. A few EV owners came a little early to help set up.  I might try a different site next year. This is very centrally located and accessible, and nice in case of rain, but an outdoor lot in a park might work better. We had so many great cars, I'm disappointed more people didn't attend. But, as I said, we were up against many other very popular events and the weather was very nice.
