Event Report
The Richmond NDEW event was a lunch time event co-hosted by the City of Richmond Transportation Department and the SF Bay Electric Vehicle Association - East Bay Chapter. Mayor Thomas Butt gave opening remarks mentioned the city's commitment to clean transportation and brought his new Hyundai Ionic to display. Event video can be accessed here: https://youtu.be/t8oboDRSm9I.The event was well attended by registered participants as well as a dozen of late entry vehicle owners, and passersby. Many community and state resources were present such as the Air District, Marin Clean Energy, Richmond Moves on Demand Shuttle The event also commemorated the launch of the city's first electric car share program operated by Miocar. The city car share is funded through Charge Up Contra Costa. For more information go to: https://miocar.org/.
Much appreciation goes out to Plug in America for the mini grant that allowed the event host to provide lunch to the table exhibit staffers, volunteers and the owners who displayed their electric vehicles or bikes. The mini grant also provided free funding for free membership and/or ridership vouchers to event participants to try the city's electric car share program or on demand electric shuttle services. Collectively the participants drove/rode over 500, 000 electric miles. Jeffrey Gould, Acting President of the SF Bay Electric Vehicle Association - East Bay Chapter, said "We were happy to be involved in one of largest drive events in the bay area."
