Event Report

This was the 5th annual event hosted by the Town of Exeter NH Energy Cmte. ( Covid event was a video of a local man and his new Tesla). Event is always held at a busy street intersection in front of the historic town hall. Basically a quaint traffic circle. Thus many cars drive by all morning. The event is a Sunday morning, for there is no other time that we could snag that many downtown parking spaces at once (20).  EVs are parked everywhere with the hoods up. Many signs. The Energy cmte always wears neon green safety vests to keep the event safe, as traffic is always flowing by and folks are crossing the streets, distracted by the awesome cars.

Tables in front of the town hall included the Freebies, ReVision Energy, and Unitil. Plus always free coffee. Three local dealerships attended. BMW just to show, but Volvo and Audi to give test drives. (30 test drives total).

Probably 200 people spoke with the owners or had a test drive over the 3 hour period of the event. Congressman Chris Pappas came and talked to people for one hour. Our special vehicles this year were a Rivian truck and a Lucid Air. (We had invited Highland Electric School Bus, and Mack Trash Trucks, but received no response.) As a sign of the times, one guy in a gas vehicle drove by and shouted out the window, "Why don't you get a real f**ing cahhh!" Cah being the way some say car in New England.  That prompted some giggles from the Tesla crowd:)

Very often, well after the event, we will find out that people finally did purchase their first EV, and this educational event was what helped them decide. Nice job NDEW!!

Event Description

Welcome to the 5th annual NDEW.org Electric Vehicle Event in historic Exeter, NH !!

This educational event is hosted by the Town of Exeter Energy Committee and runs 9am to noon on Sunday, September 25. 2022.

What is it? A fun event held in the heart of downtown, in front of the historic Town Hall at the Bandstand parking lot.

  • Local EV owners parked at the Bandstand will pop the top, let you look inside, and tell of their experiences. Have your questions ready! (no test drives please)
  • Local EV dealerships will give professional test drives from the Town Hall side parking lot. Find the "Test Drive Sign Up" table and put your name on the clipboard.
  • Tables include free coffee, PR freebies,  and EVC  info sheets. Learn about the town's new regulation in which any new parking lot is required to "make ready" for EV chargers.

There are plenty of food and drink establishments within walking distance, if you want to stay for lunch after the event has ended. Restrooms are located at the rear of the Town Hall.

Stop by for few minutes or a few hours!
