Event Report

We had a display of 8 vehicles, 2 of which offered COVID-safe rides, from 9-10am and from 11-noon. In between, we had panel presentations introduced by Nina Forsythe. The presenters were Skott Brill, who spoke about his decision to buy an EV four years ago and whether it met his expectations; Will Coburn, who spoke about new and anticipated developments in the EV world; Will Boye from Potomac Edison, who spoke about his electric utility company's role in building EVSE infrastructure in Western MD, as well as the rebates PE is offering; and Darin Broadwater, who spoke about commuting with an EV. Nick Costello, Frostburg's Chief of Police also spoke about the department's police EV and how thrilled he and the other officers are with it. A lively Q&A followed the presentations.
In addition to the EVs, we also displayed an electric bicycle, electric mower, electric weed wacker, electric tiller, electric chainsaw, and something new this year: a solar camper!
I heard from numerous people, both during and after the event, that they intended to purchase an EV. The EV Info Sheet prepared by EVADC was eagerly received by attendees.

Event Description

Curious about electric vehicles? Here's a chance to get a close look at various all-electric and plug-in hybrid models, look under the hood, talk to the owners, and possibly even get a short ride in one. There will also be some short presentations covering what it's like to commute in an EV, how to manage charging at home and on the road, various financial incentives such as tax credits and rebates, and current trends in the EV world. A Q&A will follow the presentations. There will also be an opportunity to sign up for the new Western Maryland chapter of the Electric Automobile Association (EV ownership not required).
