Event Report
2021 National Drive Electric Week Vendors, Participants and Attendees,
TEVA would like to take this moment to thank all of the many
folks who helped make this year’s National Drive Electric Week (NDEW) a
success. The valuable contributions of
each of you helps make TEVA’s mission to advocate for environmentally clean,
sustainable, petroleum-free electric transportation a reality
For the NDEW event at Jacome Plaza, TEVA was blessed to have
the support and participation of the Pima County Department of Environmental
Quality, Tucson Electric Power (TEP), Trico Electric Cooperative, Pedego
Electric Bikes Tucson, and On Any Moto Powersports. Participants and attendees were treated to a
wide variety of electric vehicles, from the super fun OneWheel self-balancing
board (thanks for the demo go to James) and city bikes from Pedego Electric
Bikes to the latest DS and SFR electric motorcycles from Zero Motors brought
out by the great guys at On Any Moto PowerSports (as well as some pretty choice
electric Mountain Bikes for conquering the Lemmon) to a great collection of
electric cars including member-provided Nissan LEAFs, Tesla Model 3s, Ys and
Ss, a Fiat 500e, a Ford Mustang Mach-e, and Chevy Bolt EVs provided by TEP and
Trico Electric. The event even included
an electric Chevy S-10 conversion. The
steady stream of attendees and onlookers provided a wonderful opportunity to
engage with those both unfamiliar and familiar with current electric car
offerings and led to many interesting conversations about driving electric
vehicles, including how to charge them, what road-tripping is like in an EV,
using solar to charge, and much more.
Even students from the nearby Imago Dei Middle School got in on the EV
action and were able to ask questions about EVs, with a surprising number of
them letting us know that their parents, in fact, drive EVs or plug in hybrids
(PHEVs). It is always great to see the
next generation excited about EVs and to see the reason why we are moving
towards the electrification of transportation.
Many special thanks to TEVA members who provided vehicles
for the event, especially those who helped with setup and teardown, including
Don, City Co-Captain Roi, Tip, Paul, Bryce, Steve and Len (who also provided a
great presentation on the exciting new Aptera solar electric vehicle). Without the tireless enthusiasm of the TEVA
membership, events like this would not be possible. Finally, the attendees are the reason we do
what we do to get the word out about electric cars. We try to inform, educate and engage to help
ensure that those who come to these events leave with the information they want
and need to make great decisions about jumping into the electric future of
transportation. For more information

answering any questions you may have, or tell us about your own EV
journey.
