Event Report

We had another great NDEW event here in Kalamazoo, third year at the Midtown Fresh Market parking lot in the heart of town.  Special thanks to our hosts for letting us use a good chunk of their property on a Saturday morning.  Weather was great, just a bit breezy in the afternoon.  Our local utility, Consumers Energy, staffed a table and tent with info on several of their programs supporting EV charging in various venues.  Other highlights were good traffic from the general public, including a couple of EV owners who just happened to be shopping that day, and a wide variety of electric vehicles on display.  For those who appreciate EV history, Rich Mills again brought his 1981 Jet Electra, a product of Jet Industries that was built on a Mercury Lynx that they got from Ford as rolling chassis.  Besides the usual Teslas, Bolts, and Volts, we had BMW, Nissan Leafs, a 2014 Ford Focus EV, a couple of new Mustang Mach-Es, Prius Prime, Honda Clarity, VW E-Golf, Mitsubishi i-Miev, and a beautiful Chevy Spark EV.  Everyone seemed to have a good time.

Sunny skies and warm temperatures led to our section of the parking lot filling to capacity for the 7th annual NDEW event in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Through the day, 40 separate vehicles were on display (not all at the same time) representing a wide variety of EVs old and new.

Event Description

Free Drive Electric Event in Kalamazoo!

Here in SW Michigan we'll be kicking off NDEW with a gathering of electric vehicles and their owners, to share information and the many perks of driving electric.  All are welcome to come and get their questions answered or just to see a variety of EVs up close and in action.  No schedule, just come any time between 10 and 3 and stay as long or as short as you like.

We'll be easy to find in the SE sector of the parking lot of a locally owned grocery store.  The store includes a cafe, but there are other places nearby to get food and refreshments, and we are only about 5 minutes south of downtown Kalamazoo.  See updates on this page and at /KalamazooEVA/ on Facebook.
