Event Report

Electric vehicle owners shared their experiences with a steady stream of visitors to the September 26 "Ask Me About My EV" event held at Copeland Park in La Crosse, Wisconsin, one of dozens of National Drive Electric Week events held around the country. In addition to battery electric and plug-in hybrid electric cars, several e-bikes were on display. Tablers included local solar installers who described the benefits of solar EV charging and several local environmental groups. Wisconsin Clean Cities and Xcel Energy provided information about charging infrastructure and incentives. In addition to learning about the benefits of EVs from owners, participants could also get basic EV information and learn about coming electric trucks from a looping video. Handouts. shirts, prizes, and an interactive mapping exercise added to the festive atmosphere. The Municipal Transit Utility displayed its new hybrid vans and highlighted the coming electric and electric hybrid buses which will provide cleaner public transportation and reduce operating costs. While he was not able to attend, La Crosse mayor Mitch Reynolds issued a National Drive Electric Week proclamation in advance of the event. Organizers plan to hold another EV show during Earth Week in 2022. Those wishing to help should email CRSierraClub@gmail.com.
