Event Report

Here is my list of cars that gave rides.

Audi e-Tron (from dealer) ................................. 1
Chevrolet Bolt (I rented it from dealer-N/C)..... 1
Ford Focus EV (private owner) .......................... 1
Tesla Model S  (private owner) .......................... 1
Tesla Model X  (private owner) .......................... 1
Tesla Model 3  (private owners) ......................... 2
TOTAL:  7 CARS GAVE RIDES

Here is my list of cars and an electric motorcycle that were on display only.

Cadillac PHEV (private owners) ......................... 2
Chevrolet Volt (private owner) ........................... 1
Nissan LEAF (private owner) ............................... 1
Tesla Model 3 (private owner) ............................. 1
Zero electric motorcycle (private owner) ........... 1
TOTAL:  5 CARS AND 1 ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLE ON DISPLAY ONLY

The number of EV's, PHEV's and an electric motorcycle that attended and gave rides are accurate.  All of the other numbers above are estimates or guesses.

I gave two rides in the 2019 Chevy Bolt Premier model I rented from a Chevy dealer with no charge.  I got the estimated number of rides from 2 of the 7 cars.  I have to ask the remaining 5 car owners how many rides they think they gave.

Two different e-bike companies participated in this event.  One of them sells the e-bikes and the other rents the e-bikes for ride sharing.  Also a solar panel company participated.  This event was from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

From 3:35 to 4:15 PM, I organized a panel discussion indoors involving 7 participants.  There were about 6 attendees in the audience.  After this was over, I went outside to try out the electric bikes and pick up some literatures from the solar panel company only to discover that the solar panel company and both e-bike companies already packed up and left!  Most of the EV's remained until 6 o'clock.  I later found out that only 2 or 3 people tried out the electric bikes.  From 2:00 to about 4:30, very few people came.  They really didn't start coming until between 4:15 and 4:30.  I blame myself for forgetting to remind the solar panel company and both electric bike companies that a lot more people will be coming later and encourage them to stay.

Also at my event were some activities for children including face painting and a guy creating balloon characters.  I created a 36x48" display board showing the history of electric cars for my event.  I also laid out the literatures I received.  Oh yes, we had two raffle drawings.  One was a 50/50 raffle and the other was taking an EV home overnight.

No politicians nor did any officials from Smart Columbus, Clean Fuels Ohio or Drive Electric Columbus attended my event.  There was no music playing.

I took a few pictures with both my phone and compact Canon camera.  A friend of mine, Michael Link took a lot of pictures with his big SLR camera for me.  I have to get the pictures from him.  I will then send some pictures and try to update the numbers for your survey later.  I am letting you know I never really had a crowd waiting to get a ride.  I will send the photos directly to Kylie Morgan to take care of.

Sincerely,

Joe Meyers
City Captain
