Event Description
The Lawrence Electric Vehicle Showcase is organized annually by the Sustainability Action Network with the help of our co-sponsor, The Sierra Club/Wakarusa Group. Our second annual EV Showcase will be at a new location, the HyVee Grocery at Clinton Parkway and Kasold Drive. Their large parking lot features three ChargePoint 120V J1772 charging stations, and good visbility from the street. The public will be able to talk with EV owners, and learn the advantages of driving an EV.
The U.S. transportation sector now produces more climate warming emissions than does the electric generation sector. Plug-in EVs are zero carbon when charged with renewable energy. And even if charged by coal fired electricity, the greater efficiency of EVs means lower carbon emissions. EVs get 100mpg equivalent or better, and the driving range of various makes is from 100 miles to 370 miles.
