Event Report

The event was sorta up in the air due to a very severe thunderstorms in the area the night before the show.  We lucked out and the weather turned partly sunny and everything dried up just about the time the show started at noon.  The EV's arrived shortly before noon from 3 different states: PA, NY and OH. The ride alongs were a big hit and we had 2 model 3's and a dealer allowed me the City Captain to take folks out in the 19 Chevy Bolt.  We also, had several people showing off their E bikes and one car had solar panels on its roof.  The Presque Isle Park Ranger, brought his Zero EV Pursuit Motorcycle and was letting the kids run the lights and sirens.  The County Executive, Cathy Dahlkemper  talked about how she is actively in the market for an EV.  The Sustainability Coordinator, Dr. Sherrie Mason for Penn State Behrend gave a short talk on how EV's are better for the environment. The one notable event was that a participant from last years NDEW event bought a model 3 and brought the car to the show.  Show ended and about half the EV's headed across town for the Green Drive  led by the Park Ranger on the EV Pursuit motorcycle.

Event Description

A number of local Erie environmental organizations have teamed up to promote this clean energy EV show. We expect to have over a dozen owners and dealers present their plug-in EVs for display and demonstration, and share their experiences with the public. Some owners may offer to give visitors short demo drives, and dealers can schedule later test drives at their dealerships. It's a chance to learn the reality of EV ownership, kick the tires and get the feel of sitting in the different models.

There will be a a Presque Isle State Park Ranger, displaying a Zero Pursuit EV Motorcycle.  The EV’s will then meet at the Tom Ridge Center 301 Peninsula Dr. Erie, PA 16505 at 4 pm for a Green Drive Escorted by the Park Ranger, riding the Zero Pursuit Motorcycle.  The drive will encompass all of the Presque Isle State Park and last approximately 50 minutes.

The event is free and family-friendly, and some healthy snack food and drinks will be provided. Various environmental information tables and vendors will be available, and there is plenty of visitor parking.
