Event Report
National Drive Electric Week - Las Vegas was staged on Saturday, Sept. 8th, from 10 AM to 2 PM at Springs Preserve parking lot under a photovoltaic solar canopy that tracked the sun while providing electrons to four ChargePoint SAE J1772 AC Level 2 charging ports at that location. Over 45 plug-in electric vehicles were showcased during the event that drew approximately 200 visitors during the 4-hour event. Exhibit booths provided educational outreach about electric car issues.
Event Description
The Las Vegas Electric Vehicle Association, a local chapter of the Electric Auto Association, invites all owners of plug-in electric cars to gather for an electric car show and rally at the Springs Preserve parking lot on Saturday, September 8th from 10 AM to 2 PM.
Co-sponsors and exhibitors at this local National Drive Electric Week event include the Sierra Club, NV Energy Renewable Generations and PowerShift programs, the Nevada Electric Vehicle Accelerator (NEVA) program from REA250, Drive Clean Energy program from the Green Alliance of Nevada, Citizens' Climate Lobby, Nevada Conservation League, UNLV Formula SAE Race Team, FIRST Nevada student robotics team from Clark High School, and more.
The event will be staged under a photovoltaic solar power canopy that tracks the sun. Energy generated by the solar array provides power to several nearby electric car charging stations within the parking lot. Plug in your electric car and get free electric fuel from the abundant sunshine in southern Nevada.
Food and drink will be provided during the event, along with an array of informational booths that will showcase sustainable electric transportation and renewable energy benefits.
