Event Report

We had a great day on the Burlington waterfront with 20 electric cars and bikes on hand from local dealer and owners. Our location on the Burlington Bike Path provided a great audience to engage with on the benefits of electric vehicle ownership and personal experience owning EVs in Vermont. WCAX television stopped by and interviewed several owners on why they made the switch.

Event Description

Event Overview

Drive Electric Vermont and Burlington Electric Department have partnered to organize this National Drive Electric Week event on the beautiful Burlington waterfront on Saturday, September 16 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm in the parking lot at the end of Lake Street near the Burlington Skate Park (directions).

Please register to attend by clicking the "Register" button above if you'd like to bring your electric car or just come down to check out the fun.

We will have nearly 20 electric cars on display from local owners and dealers, including all-electric and plug-in hybrid options like the Chevrolet Bolt, Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Volt, Tesla Model S and Fisker Karma (see the full listing of expected vehicles below).

Electric bikes will also be on hand to try out from the Old Spokes Home.

We are not intending to offer electric car rides/drives at this event due to the heavy pedestrian and vehicle traffic expected on the waterfront that day. The Grand Point North festival begins at 3 pm that afternoon.

We hope mother nature cooperates - if there are any issues related to weather or other factors we will update this event listing with inclement weather plans.

If you are on Facebook we encourage you to also join the Facebook event and share among your friends.

We look forward to seeing you!

Directions / Parking / Map

Directions
To get to the event site from the Battery St / College St intersection in Burlington, head down College St toward Lake Champlain and make the first right onto Lake St. Then travel along Lake St, passing by the Main Street Landing Building and bearing left to cross the railroad tracks on your way toward the skate park. We will have the end of the free parking area along Lake St reserved for electric cars and vendors attending the event.

Parking
For those in the area who can walk or bike, we encourage you to arrive via the Burlington Bike Path

If you are not bringing an electric car there is a free public lot just before the space reserved for the event at the end of Lake St. These spaces are shared with many other waterfront activities, so we are not able to guarantee parking availability there. Additional free weekend parking should be available in the parking lot at Main St Landing (near Foam Brewers) and there is a paid city lot just down College St from the Lake / College intersection. The City of Burlington has thousands of additional parking spaces within walking distance - more information is available on their Downtown Parking website.
