Event Report

Our very successful Drive Electric – Chattanooga celebration of National Drive Electric Week festivities was included with the Second Saturday on Station Street event orchestrated by the Chattanooga Choo Choo and the Songbirds Foundation. The “Second Saturday on Station Street” this September 9th attracted over 1,500 attendees to enjoy live bands, street vendors and our displays of electric vehicles. We estimate that between 400 and 500 people stopped to talk to our vehicle owners and examine our displays. We were proud to host the mayor of Chattanooga Andy Berke who visited our displays and talked with our vehicle owners. He was then invited by the Songbirds Foundation to the stage to address the crowd where he presented the Drive Electric Chattanooga organization with a city proclamation that declared September 9-16, 2017 as “Chattanooga Drive Electric Week.” The highlights of our event were covered in an article in the Chattanooga Time Free Press. Charge On!

Event Description

The Chattanooga Choo Choo is the historic train station in the heart of downtown Chattanooga.  It has been remodeled into a grand hotel and conference center which hosts special events of importance to the culture of Chattanooga.  The second Saturday of each month during the summer the street next to the Choo Choo is closed for a city wide celebration.  Drive Electric - Chattanooga has been invited to join this "Second Saturdays On Station Street" event.  We are thrilled to be a part of this event which draws several thousand residents and tourists.  We will have several EV owners in attendance to proudly display their vehicles and to answer questions from visitors.  We also will have several displays to educate visitors on the many advantages to driving electric.  Chattanooga is very progressive embracing technology and sustainability.  We have electric buses downtown powered by our local utility's solar farm.  The city has numerous level 2 free charging stations also powered by solar.  We also have the fastest fiber internet, cable and phone service in the country.  One gig fiber service is available for all residential and businesses in the utility district.  Charge on Chattanooga!
