| Gustavus | Gustavus, AK | Four Nissan LEAF owners displayed their vehicles, answered questions, and gave test rides and drives at the Salmon River Park in Gustavus, Alaska on September 16. About 25 locals checked out cars powered by the same rain that failed to damp the enthusiasm of owners and lookers alike. Many others noted the event as they drove past on the community's main road. This northern-most Drive Electric Week event celebrated growing from one electric vehicle in 2016 to seven in 2017 for only 489 permanent residents, demonstrating that local hydropower, a very limited road system, and a maritime climate make EVs a natural fit for our community. |
| Juneau | Juneau, AK | Juneau, Alaska had its 4th annual EV Round UP on 9-9-17 where over 250 participants were served local and national level EV information along burgers and hot dogs under party tents. We also had Spy training and EV charger information. This became a great forum and event to mix current EV and prospective EV owners. Many EV test drives were provided and Juneau participants were able to see a recent GM Bolt and BMW i-3 along with a unique demonstration of Torqeedo electric outboard boat motors. Our EV Round UP was hosted by the Juneau Electric Vehicle Association (JEVA) and the event held on the Juneau District Heating Facility’s downtown location to accommodate larger turnout this year of 70 vehicles. Three locally elected Assembly members attended of which one is an EV owner, one is purchasing an EV and one is considering an EV purchase for driving in our “perfect EV community”. Our local government just awarded $25,000 for new EV chargers for Juneau. Participants were asked where to put new charging stations in Juneau and when Juneau would reach 500 EV’s (we now have 200). Juneau’s electricity if virtually 100% hydropower so the JEVA logo is “Driving the Rain”. A drone video was made of the event. Our event was sponsored with financial and volunteer assistance from local sponsors: Renewable Juneau, Juneau Economic Development Council, Avista, Tongass Rain, Juneau Commission on Sustainability, Juneau District Heating, IBEW Local 1547, Juneau Hydropower, Alaska Grafix, and Wingnut Auto Salon. Additionally, Bellingham Nissan sent a dealer representative to Juneau. We received fun promotion from local radio stations and our event was a front page news feature. Juneau, Alaska is recognized as one of the fastest growing Electric Vehicle communities with aggressive policies in promoting electric vehicle transformation. Juneau is Driving the Rain and leading Alaska’s efforts for Electrical Vehicle Transformation while establishing Juneau as a leading Sustainable City. |
| Birmingham | Birmingham, AL | Approximately 100 people turned out for the first NDEW in Birmingham. The weather was perfect and attendees got to meet owners and EV enthusiast from local sponsors. We had a great time and enjoyed meeting new people and we are looking forward to next years event. We hope that local dealers met customers ready to convert to a EV emission free lifestyle. Birmingham City Councilors Sheila Tyson and Valerie Abbott will present 2 awards to area businesses who are leading efforts to expand electric vehicle infrastructure in metro Birmingham. All attendees will be entered in a raffle sponsored by Southern Research for Goal Zero Nomad 7 Solar Panel and Goal Zero Nomad 14 Plus Solar Panel (http://www.goalzero.com/solar-panels) to be called at 12:45pm by William J. Grieco, Phd, Vice President of Energy & Environment at Southern Research. |
| Huntsville | Huntsville, AL | It was a great show with lots of attention and support. We had the first Chevy Bolt sold in Alabama present; the owner just got it the day before. One lady who was thinking about getting a new Land Rover saw her first Tesla Model X and seemed serious about getting one instead. We had two dealers show their used EVs to show how affordable EVs can be if you buy used. The used BMW i3 got a lot of attention. We learned a lot and planned to make next year even bigger. |
| Fayetteville | Fayetteville, AR | Arkansas Sierra Club partnered with the City of Fayetteville, Ozarks Electric Cooperative, and Chevrolet of Fayetteville to host our "Drive Electric" event on Dickson Street in Fayetteville. We had 5 EVs on display--4 Volts and one Tesla--provided by Sierra Club members, Ozarks Electric Cooperative, and Chevrolet of Fayetteville. We also tabled with information on various EVs and why they are beneficial. During the event, Sierra Club emceed a press conference in front of our EVs, headlined by Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan. Mayor Jordan extolled the benefits of EVs for air quality, urged the nation to get off fossil fuels entirely, and pushed for more EV charging stations. Other speakers included Kris Williams of Ozarks Electric Cooperative (he brought Ozarks' company EV) and local EV owner Terry Tremwel, who used his speech to lay out the reasons why we should "electrify everything". All in all, a great event! |
| Prescott | Prescott, AZ | Despite the morning rain and the early start date, the first annual Prescott NDEW event was a success! We had a total of 5 EVs: 2 Nissan Leafs, 2 Tesla Model 2 cars, and a Bolt. The Bolt was brought by the local Lamb dealer in Prescott. The Tesla drivers offered rides in their cars, and the dealer also allowed test drives in the parking lot. Next year we would likely host the event in the Costco parking lot, where the traffic is heavier and visibility is greater. We will also start planning much earlier! |
| Scottsdale | Scottsdale, AZ | We had a great EVent with sixty plug-in vehicles including thirty Tesla and two Zero motorcycles. PlugInAmerica Katherine was at our information booth greeting EVeryone and telling them about the many different vehicles we had at the show. The only vehicle still missing was a Tesla Model 3 but we had two Chevy BOLTS to cover for them. Our Phoenix EAA Facebook page will have a flood of pictures and even a drone movie when everything gets uploaded. Jim Stack, Phoenix EAA President and one of the city captains was busy talking with the crowd of over 2,000 so other attendees got photos on his behalf. We had our NDEW at the Pavilions at Talking Stick in Scottsdale which is the longest running outdoor car show in the country and it was great to see the large influx of EVs, especially as the number grows each year! |

| Benicia - Beach Clean Up & Tailgate | Benicia, CA | We did this event in conjunction with California Coastal Cleanup Day. We were next to one of the main beaches. We talked to many people throughout the day including people who drove by and rode their bikes by. |
| Benicia | Benicia, CA | This event was at the Farmers' Market. We have it there in order to expose people who may know nothing about an electric vehicle. We had three cars and drivers there. Many people walked by the exhibit and we were talking to interested people throughout the 3 hours of the event. We also had a front page article in our local paper and a letter to the editor. We could not give test drives. The week before the mayor issued a proclamation for Drive Electric week and we had a banner displayed at our City Park on 1St Street about the event. |
| Berkeley | Berkeley, CA | We had great turnout in Berkeley with a steady stream of folks throughout the four hour event. Here’s the low-down: • 158 people registered in advance for the event, of which 31 were EV owners representing 13 different EV and PHEV models • We estimate between 200-300 people may have attended in total • The representative from the CA Clean Vehicle Rebate project, who was keeping a tally, had 76 conversations with event attendees • 8 community groups/gov agencies participated (City of Berkeley, Ecology Center, SunWork, CA Clean Vehicle Rebate Project, Sierra Club, 350 Bay Area, NorCal Solar and League of Women Voters) • 4 Cities supported/promoted (Albany, Berkeley, El Cerrito, Oakland) • 3 local dealerships attended (Toyota of Berkeley, Albany Ford and Weathford BMW in Berkeley) Note, while 6 organizations volunteered time to staff and promote, the event was primarily organized by the City of Berkeley and the Ecology Center paid staff who spent a combined 80+ hours. |
| Cupertino | Cupertino, CA | The 45th annual EV Rally and Show in Cupertino featured historical electric cars, a large variety of modern electric cars, a tent pavilion by Nissan, EV ride-and-drives, 3rd-party groups, electric bike rides, high school robot demos and owner-built vehicles. In honor of the Electric Auto Association's 50th anniversary, we displayed historical electric cars included a General Motors EV1, a 1916 Detroit Electric, and a 1905 Studebaker. (Thanks to the Cal Auto Museum and History San Jose). Going from the past to the future, there was a pre-production 2018 Nissan LEAF connected to a Nissan vehicle-to-grid adapter that powered the displays and coolers in a Nissan tent pavilion. We had a good showing of the Chevy Bolt EV, the Tesla Model S, and most current models. Test drive cars were a LEAF, eGolf (125-mile range), Bolt EV, and a Kia Optima plug-in hybrid (cars and sales staff were courtesy of the DGDG dealer group). Private Telsa model S owners gave test rides.There were also e-bike test drives. A shout-out to the electric car conversions (from gas-powered models), and three-wheeled electrics including the Corbin Sparrow, the City EL "Lemon Wedge", and an "Electric Drift Trike". Zero and Brammo e-motorcycles were on display. Speakers and contests made for a lively experience. Rod Diridon Sr. of the Mineta Transportation Institute spoke on the critical need to electrify transportation systems. Cupertino City Councilman Rod Sinks gave a proclamation for Drive Electric Week. There were silent auctions and drawings for a home EVSE station and other prizes. A special treat was the appearance of Dr. Ken Kastle as our emcee for the day. Our 3rd-party groups included the Clean Vehicle Rebate Group, Silicon Valley Clean Energy, Breathe California, Bay Area Air Quality Management District, EVANNEX, BMW and Ford dealers, Chargepoint, eMotorWorks, EVMatch, ELV Motors, and home EVSE station installers. Thanks to Notre Dame and Monta Vista high schools for their robot teams. |
| Davis | Davis, CA | NDEW EVent at Davis Farmers Market On Saturday, September 16th, SacEV and Cool Davis hosted a National Drive Electric EVent at the Davis Farmers Market from 9 AM to 1:30 PM, with impressive results. Several dealerships (DuPratt, Hanlees, Niello and University) brought a total of 10 EVs to the EVent, and dealership staff gave more than 119 test drives. These test drives have already generated follow-up visits for the local dealers, who have expressed interest in participating in future EVents with SMUD/Charge Across Town. Also, several EV test drivers agreed to be contacted after the EVent to discuss their reactions. Thirty SacEV and Cool Davis members brought 21 personal EVs to the EVent. In 759 separate conversations with community members, these EV owners shared their families’ EV experiences. For the first time in our region, a Chrysler Pacifica Minivan EV was on public display. Victoria Hall brought her 2012 Nissan LEAF to be a canvas for kids to express themselves (with dry erase pens), and Matt Chan brought his mini-Tesla for kids. The event featured several workshops, which were repeated twice during the EVent. Each hosted from 3 to 10 participants, getting fuller later in the morning. Neighbors at Parkview Place, the first LEED Platinum Net Zero Energy residential building in Davis, welcomed the workshops on their driveway and displayed a Chevy Bolt and home charging station in their garage. PG&E sponsored the test drives by providing Farmers Market Bucks or Davis Downtown gift cards to the first 100 drivers who took test drives. We have survey data from 64 of those drivers. Sacramento Clean Cities provided lunch for the EVent volunteers. Support from the City of Davis was key to having a great venue, blocking off the street next to the Farmers Market . A locally owned 500e was displayed with event information inside the Farmers Market next to the City Booth. Three City council members were on site to greet and thank participants! |
| Folsom | Folsom, CA | ~20 SacEV members were on hand for our NDEW EVent at the Folsom Historic Powerhouse with 12 vehicles representing the most popular models. SMUD had invited us to join in their Electricity Fair which brought in over 1,500 community members. SacEV members engaged in 365 conversations, with mostly young families. As a special treat, Matt Chan brought his family's mini-Tesla. Several photos attached. |
| Gardena | Gardena, CA | The event went well. We had approximately 95 attendees that heard awesome speakers, met surprise guests, and enjoyed music and entertainment. The CEO from E-Bus Inc, Anders (Andy) Eklov, Mayor Pat Furey, City of Torrance and Mayor Justin Massey, City of Hermosa Beach joined us. The students from LA Harbor College displayed their robot and spoke about their STEM academia. The hosted information booths had representatives from: Southern, California Edison, South Bay Environmental Service Center, Center for Sustainable Energy, Los Angeles Harbor College - featuring engineering students, KC Price III Christian Schools, Optima Energy, Sunrun, the League of Women Voters of Torrance Area, and the Harbor Gateway North Neighborhood Council. Our local City of Los Angeles Fire Dept. - Station #79, John Jones- Office of Joe Buscaino - CD 15, Octaviano Rios - City of LA, Dept of Neighborhood Empowerment and LA County Sheriff - Deputy Malveaux were on the scene to celebrate and learn about EV's. We included three educational forums on the program: “Let’s Talk Technology” Speaker: Anders B. (Andy) Eklov, Chief Executive Officer, E-Bus “The EV Driver / Owner Experience” A Driver Testimonial “Incentives and Rebates” Speaker: Vallerie Gonzalez, Center for Sustainable Energy “Education, Electrification and Employment” Speaker: Van Benford, Los Angeles Harbor College Office of Workforce & Economic Development EV Showcase: We had the honor of having Scott Robinson Honda display two of their Honda Clarity vehicles. Ride and Drives were offered by Pacific Volkswagen, featuring the E-Golf and Martin Chevrolet had their Volt, Bolt and a hybrid Monte Carlo. The EV showcase also included a Tesla Model S and Model X. | Goleta | Goleta, CA | Hundreds of California Lemon Festival attendees passed through the electric vehicle car show during our National Drive Electric Week celebration in Goleta at the 2017 California Lemon Festival. At least 75 festival-goers stopped to talk with the local EV owners who displayed their cars at the event, including Santa Barbara City Councilmember and proud Nissan LEAF owner Jason Dominguez. Staff from Community Environmental Council and the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District shared information about rebates and incentives for plug-in electric vehicles. Joel Levin, the Executive Director of Plug-in America, also joined us to share information about their organization and the benefits of cleaner plug-in electric vehicles. |
| Los Alamitos | Los Alamitos, CA | We had a small, last minute event in the City of Los Alamitos. It was the only event in Orange County and was well attended by local EV drivers from Los Alamitos, Cypress, Stanton, Long Beach, as well as the Tesla Owners Club of OC. Other drivers came from as far away as San Diego and Laguna Beach. Local dignitaries included the Mayor of Los Alamitos Shelley Hasselbrink, and Council members Warren Kusumoto and Josh Wilson. Also in attendance was SCAQMD Board Member the Honorable Dwight Robinson. The event far exceeded expectations and many of the attendees stayed for the entire time to educate those interested in EVs, and exchange ideas and tips with current EV owners. A local news crew interviewed several participants and put together a 3 minute video on YouTube. |
| Watts | Los Angeles, CA | Every presentation and service that I’d asked for showed up. And the most important was an energetic volunteer contingent. The canopies, tables, chairs and all were deployed in plenty of time. As soon as the neighbors showed up, EV owners started giving rides. Rebate programs and other tables started getting some action, and even cooler, some important players in the EV movement showed up and made connections. Jessica Ramirez from Primestor, the development company putting together the new Jordan Downs development, came by and got talking with LADWP Commissioner Bill Funderburk about putting solar on the roof of the buildings there. Joel Levin from Plug In America came by, as well as renowned EV advocate Paul Scott. And the number of EV’s that showed up! I’d had 9 EV’s reserved on the NDEW webpage, and although a couple never showed, we had three surprise Tesla's! A hair-raising moment came when a group of neighborhood kids got into Chris Kindle's Tesla, goofing around and honking the horn, and then it started to move! Several people were terrified that a horrible accident was about to happen, when it was revealed that Kindle was showing a young attendee how the Tesla's self-park system worked. The kids weren’t driving it - it was driving itself! It quietly parked itself and shut off. And though they gave us some concern, the kids were a great asset to the event, constantly pushing for rides and raising everyone’s awareness about actually getting into the cars and having the experience. Funderburk was everywhere, talking with residents, activists, and environmental leaders, giving total involvement to everyone pretty much equally. Paul Scott brought his electric motorcycle, and another one came as well. I had a great drive and ride with a neighbor named Barbara, who rode around the towers with me, and then took the wheel herself for a spell. Toward the end, a young man showed up with a 2008 Tesla Roadster, one of the first ever made. |
| Los Angeles - DTLA | Los Angeles - DTLA, CA | DTLA Celebrated National Drive Electric Week DTLA's really cool new space, THE BLOC, played host to an EV education EVent all week at lunchtime. Green Commuter, Plug In America and others were there to talk about check EV carshare , innovative commuting, and more. Attendees were able to check out Green Commuter's Tesla Model X. |
| Marin County | Marin County, CA | The Marin National Drive Electric Week event was fairly successful considering the obstacles to presenting a successful event. We had about 500 attendees and the event resulted in 82 test drives. For liability reasons we can only allow dealers to offer test drives We spend a lot of money and a huge amount of time organizing and publicizing the event. Except for Tesla, the car dealers are not willing to participate even though they are not asked for a contribution. We provide tents, tables, and chairs for them. We told the event at a high traffic shopping center so there will be lots of exposure for them. The fact the Nissan refused to allow us to include 2017 LEAFs was a big problem for us. It was idiotic for Nissan to send us pens and hats to give out, but refused to let us show 2017 cars. I will provide a more detailed report via email. |
| Oxnard | Oxnard, CA | For its second year, the local National Drive Electric Week was held at the Channel Islands Harbor. The weather cooperated and soon after the event started, the sun came out and warmed the cool ocean breeze. Throughout the day, several hundred potential EV adopters came to the site to learn more about how electric vehicles had evolved and today are a viable transportation option. On display were 18 different models represented by 42 vehicles each with their knowledgeable owners. A lot of networking and Q&A went on and everyone was happy they participated. A County air quality official attended sharing information about incentives available to prospective EV purchasers. In conjunction to the NDEW Oxnard event, the Best.Drive.EVer ride and drive allowed interested participants to get behind the wheel of four EV/PHEVs that were made available for ride and drive experiences. |
| Palo Alto | Palo Alto, CA | On Sunday, September 17, 2017, Acterra gave a resounding 537 EV test drives at its second annual National Drive Electric Week event: Ride, Drive, and Be Green! Over 260 potential adopters, EV owners, and volunteers converged to share and receive information about electric vehicles, charging, leasing/buying, and living the “EV lifestyle.” EV Ambassadors and local dealers provided 40 vehicles, representing 13 makes and models, for viewing and test driving. We are confident that many of the event attendees increased their willingness to consider an electric vehicle for their next car purchase, and hope to see many new EVs on Bay Area roads as a result of this event! |
| Richmond | Richmond, CA | Our event was attended by the Richmond City Manager, Bill Lindsay, City Council Member Ben Choi. Envision CEO Desmond Wheatley attended the event and shared the benefits of solar charging with attendees. John Hall, CV/AV Program Manager from the Contra Costa Transportation Authority brought the easymileEZ10 autonomous electric shuttle (currently being piloted at Bishop Ranch). Several local partners the (The Clean Air Rebate Project, Sierra Club, 511 Contra Costa , California Public Utilities Commission, Community Housing Development Corporation were present to assist attendees with financing and rebate resources to purchase new or used electric vehicles. |
| Richmond - Auto Row at Hilltop | Richmond, CA | Event was great. | Riverside | Riverside, CA | This was the first NDEW event hosted by CE-CERT. The event was held in the parking lot under the solar canopies. It was a very hot day, so we were all thankful for the shade. We had 10 booths that included, CE-CERT, Plug In America, City of Colton Public Utilities, City of Riverside Public Utilities, American Solar Advantage, KIGT , Inland Empire Biking Alliance, American Lung Association, Southern California AQMD, and our local EV club, EVAOSC. Riverside BMW provide 2 i3's for test drives and Riverside Chevrolet provided a Bolt and a Volt. We had over 25 EV owners show up to show and talk about their cars. We had almost every available EV represented. The star of the show was Ned and his Model X, when he had his car provide a musical show. Everyone was enthralled. We were honored to have as speakers: Matt Barth, Director of CE-CERT; Joel Levin, Executive Director of PIA, and Assembly Member Eloise Gomez Reyes. |

I did most of the planning and legwork myself, but will know better how to delegate tasks next year. I got good suggestions from my small team. |

| Santa Cruz | Santa Cruz, CA | We hosted our local event in downtown Santa Cruz for the first time. We estimated about 800 people who came through including some of our elected officials. The event featured 20 electric vehicles with many on display and several available for test drives. We also partnered with several local bike shops to offer electric bike test rides. We had 20 electric bikes of all different types and had over 45 e-bike test rides. We had many booth partners who provided community members with information and resources including from local solar companies (one of which brought a solar array and we were able to plug in one of our EVs on display to demonstrate charging), our local Air District, the City of Santa Cruz, Monterey Bay Community Power and more. |
| South Pasadena | South Pasadena, CA | As always we combine our Clean Air Car Show with a Green Living Expo to highlight ways residents can be more sustainable with not only their vehicle, but other aspects of their lives as well. This is a great nexus as we get people who come for the vehicles and learn from the vendors, and folks who come for the vendors and explore a new vehicle technology. We hope to expand our event to one day include test drives on site, but all the dealerships on hand said they had numerous people scheduled to come in for test drives at local dealerships. All in all this was a successful event with compliments from both dealerships and residents, who both enjoyed sharing their knowledge of EVs. Also from attendees who all seemed to walk away with a better understanding of and excitement for electric vehicles. |

We had Tesla Xs and an S, Chevy Volts and a Bolt, Nissan Leafs, a CODA, an electric scooter, and I think one more car. I was so busy talking to people that I didn't get a chance to take any photos. |
| Golden | Golden, CO | I think attendance was boosted as a result of me shooting a 2-minute Facebook Live video showing a dozen EVs which I posted on my personal Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/jimsmith145) , then shared with my company page (because it was in our parking lot), and a half dozen Facebook pages or groups that I administer or belong to. I did this 75 minutes after the event began, with almost three hours remaining, and I suspect some of the later turnout is because of that exposure. Our local EAA chapter learned of this and invited them to register their event as an NDEW event for a larger awareness and attendance. The cars are awesome, but, it’s the people attending who are most remarkable, passionate! Owners thrill at having such high performance cars with easy maintenance. They love how EVs have zero emissions. Visitors exploring the event engaged in depth discussion with owners. 12 families wanted to purchase an EV. No need to wait! Each year, (like cellphones) EVs gain dramatic range improvements. Tesla cars actually send “OS updates” that actually add features. Never before has a tech product gotten better with age! And due to simple mechanics, 3-year old EVs can remain nearly pristine. You can actually power your house from your car. Home Solar charging would make you energy-independent. Hopefully, many Texas & Florida residents may consider this upgrade! EV owners found talking to university students planted powerful seeds of awareness and possibility. Shared environmental values between the Sierra Club, Unitarian members, Electric Vehicle owners, and the Chevy dealer resulted in a commitment to future activities and partnerships. Working with Prof Button of CCSU, we reserved parking spots near the two level 2 chargers behind the student center. The afternoon of the event, we set up the signs, information table, tent, and then EVs/ PHEVs started arriving! Timing was perfect as some students were finishing classes while others were heading off to class. Lots of inquisitive minds asking good questions about what it's like to own a plug-in. |

| Washington | Washington, DC | We had a great day out on the National Mall! It was sunny, there were about as many cars as our permit would allow for, we had an excellent group of volunteers and EV owners on hand, and everyone had a fun time talking to each other and the public about the movement to electrify transportation. Our headquarters area was staffed from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., providing 6 hours of EV related fun and education. At least two local Sierra Club chapter representatives were available at all times, enabling us to promote other green initiatives as well. We also had a local clean energy startup company, called Ipsun Power, come and display some of their tech and ideas. There were at least a few serious conversations with prospective EV buyers about the range of options and benefits. At around noon we gathered everyone up for pizza and a few comments by representatives from the Electrical Vehicle Association of Greater Washington DC and the Sierra Club. |

| Estero | Estero, FL | Our event was really challenging as we were scheduled for September 16th, and were hit by Hurricane Irma on September 10th. Many of our volunteers and guests evacuated before the hurricane and did not return until the 19th or later due to power outages and gas shortages. For the people that did show up it gave us an opportunity to show that EVs were still able to get around while people were waiting in 3 hour lines in hopes of getting gas after the hurricane. The people that did check out our event did seem very receptive to the ideals of driving electric and we have had communication from two of them that they bought used Nissan Leafs since then! In retrospect I believe it would be in our best interest to contact local news before the event and maybe we can get more local exposure, even if its 30 seconds on the nightly news. |

I brought my hand-outs and goodies to the East Coast of Florida and will give them to the organizers of the EVent in Satellite Beach. Folks in Florida have begged the National Organizers NOT to have the Drive Electric Week in September for years. This is in the middle of hurricane season and we normally are rained out regardless. | Satellite Beach | Satellite Beach, FL | We opened the event with Satellite Beach Vice Mayor Steve Osmer reading the official city proclamation. The Kennedy Space Center dropped off their lunar rover to put on display - everyone forgets that it is an electric vehicle too! A DIY electrified Austin Healey was also on display. Even after Hurricane Irma made finding food supplies and generators hard to find we still had two food trucks, Coastal Kitchen and Good Moos with much needed ice cream and smoothies to cool down from the hot sun. All attendees loved the free raffle prizes like Hot Wheels Teslas, die cast BMW i3 and i8, and other Schneider Electric water bottles, lunch boxes and tumblers that were drawn every 15-20 minutes. Since we had 42 EVs (some showing up and leaving at different times to work on hurricane clean up) we had to use a drone to get a good picture of it all. All attendees agreed it was a lot of fun, educational, we should do this more often and probably not around hurricane season! |

Some 40 EVs were displayed and Nissan pulled out all the stops with an interactive 2018 Nissan LEAF display. What an awesome car!! United BMW and Chevrolet also offered ride & drives to attendees. Chevy, with only one Bolt ( they were disappointed they didn't bring more!) gave at least 40 drives and BMW, around 25. Thanks to our site host, we had 4 pop-up canopies to provide shelter from the rain and sun and ample parking. Several of our members joined our event and many brought their electric cars. We had representatives from Chevy, NISSAN, SunRun, HELCO, and the Citizens Climate Lobby. Senator Russell Ruderman and Lance Niimi, executive assistant to the mayor spoke about sustainable transportation and the role of electric vehicles in meeting our sustainability goals. We had the honor of having a Plug In America founder, Mike Kane, in attendance. He was accompanied by Cathy Lam (a founder of Our1World.org). We had 22 EVs. Test drives were made of the Chevy Bolt and Tesla Model S. | Honolulu | Honolulu, HI | Blue Planet Foundation and the Sustainable Transportation Coalition of Hawaii held the 2017 Electric Island Drive and Fair on September 17. Over 90 vehicles participated in the EV caravan from urban Honolulu through Waikiki to Kapiolani Community College, where there was an electric vehicle fair. Folks on the sidewalk along the route stopped to take pictures and take note of the electric vehicles with flags on their windows. There were more electric vehicles and electric bikes at the fair, as well as community organizations and transportation stakeholders. Hawaii State Representative Della Au Belatti, DBEDT Director Luis Salaveria, Kirsten Baumgart Turner on behalf of Congresswoman Gabbard, and Josh Stanbro with the City and County of Honolulu spoke on behalf of electrified transportation in the state. There was a radio station present to emcee, and live music by a local musician Cory Oliveros. We had news coverage on KHON and Hawaii News Now as well as video teams from both of our sponsor organizations; Ulupono Initiative and Hawaiian Electric Companies. They used their videographers to collect images and testimony from EV owners about why they love to drive their EVs. We plan to use that information for our new coalition website www.driveelectrichi.com. Successful event that doubled in size from last year! Hoping to be even bigger moving forward. |
| Lihue | Lihue, HI | At least one county council woman, the chairman of the local electricity company and the sustainability coordinator of the county attended. We were asked to send someone to a council meeting to tell them about EVs and clean transportation. Drive Electric Hawaii flew out one representative who even helped out at the event for a while. We had one electric bike and the builder / rider gave demonstrations. The cars that attended were mostly Leafs, 3 Kia Souls, one each Ford C-Max, Tesla Model X, Mercedes B-class electric, Chevy Volt, plug-in Prius, and a few other hybrids, I assume all of them plug ins. 3 departments of the college were there with docents, professors and department leaders, among them the automotive department and KCC's sustainability club. Our volunteers were awesome, many more helped out than had signed up, and I consider the event a huge success. I expect 3 or 4 or the people I personally talked to to buy an EV in the next 1/2 year. |
| Waimea | Waimea, HI | Our Waimea event was held at the Kuhio Hale Farmers Market. We had excellent weather and a great turnout. I estimate between 100 and 150 were at the event. We had 23 electric cars from across several makes – Tesla Model S and Model X, BMW i3, Chevy Bolt and Volt, Nissan LEAF, VW eGolf, BYD e6, Sondors electric bike, and and ELF solar bike. Representatives from Blue Planet Foundation and Ulupono Initiative (Honolulu-based non-profits dedicated to sustainability), a couple of PV companies, and our utility joined our event. Our BMW and Chevy dealers offered test drives of the BMW i3 and Chevy Bolt. Of course, our members offered rides and drives with their Tesla, Bolt, and LEAF vehicles. We had a good flow of participants throughout the event. The farmers market manager did several Facebook live events on the market’s page and this resulted in more residents coming to the event. It was very rewarding to hear about visitors making purchase decisions after joining our event. |
| Fairfield | Fairfield, IA | Fairfield is a city of 10,000. For a city this size our electric car showcase event was very successful. All three of our local newspapers showed up along with a candidate for Mayor. We decided not to give rides at the event because all of the cars were surrounded with onlookers the entire event time. After the event a few of us gave really interested attendees rides. Next year we look forward to hosting the event in the town square and triple the number of available electric cars to look at and have a fleet of electric cars that will give test drives. Our local Ford dealership was not interested in working with us because (they said) electric cars are not popular. We hope to change that. Several of our attendees plan to go to the dealership and let them know they are interested in test driving an electric car. We had a booth with flyers about electric cars, climate change, "How to Lobby" and "How to write a letter to the editor". Our goal was to educate citizens about the link between the changing climate and the huge effect transportation is in the wholistic picture. We wanted to give attendees a clear message that choosing electric/solar alternatives is something they can and should consider when purchasing their next car. |
| West Des Moines | West Des Moines, IA | Leading up to the event we were able to arrange for 2 radio interviews for promotion. Everything else was done via social media (mostly Facebook). We were able to get the West Des Moines mayor to sign a watered down proclamation, but no one from city government attended. We visited every dealership in town. In the end 2 dealerships brought 1 car each. (BMW 5 series hybrid and a Bolt) One solar installer attended. BTW there is a conflict with NDEW and the solar industry. An international solar installers convention was in Vegas from Sunday through Wednesday. |
| Moscow | Moscow, ID | Our event had more than 60 participants! It was at a parking lot of Rosauers on highway 95 in Moscow ID. We had a canopy with the NDEW banner and a T-shirt with "Keep Calm and Charge On". We were so busy that we didn't frame a good photo to show all the vehicles and the crowds so attached is the best we have. |
| Carpentersville | Carpentersville, IL | For the National Drive Electric Week Northern EVent on Saturday, Sept. 9th, I set things up at the Carpentersville, IL Home Depot. Kudos to the store manager for the awesome way he helped us with supplies and set-up. With another day of beautiful weather, we kicked things off at 12 noon with our special DJs, Marty and Colee. EVs trickled in and by day's end, I counted 15 cars in attendance. In addition to Bruce Jones' Hupmobile and Bob Baker's Civic, we had Teslas, Volts, Leafs, a Bolt, a plug-in Prius, a Fiat 500e, a Saturn eVUE, a Mercedes B250e, and my personal favorite, the Caddy XLR. This was our first year at this location and will probably be the location for next year. We had a built-in audience (Home Depot customers) and a natural test track (perimeter road of the mall next door). And as we wrapped up the show, a Model X owner gave us an encore performance of "the Tesla Dance" - gotta see it to believe it - flashing lights and flapping gull-wing doors. |
| Evanston | Evanston, IL | The City of Evanston participated and the mayor stopped by to issue a proclamation that this was "Drive Electric Week" in Evanston. Compared to last year the number of EV participants more than doubled with more than triple the number of oil-free miles driven. 12 different EV models showed up. Our event parking lot was full - we had to cut off EV registration. We'll look for a bigger venue for 2018. I think we can double and triple participation again next year. In that regard it's VERY important that the Nissan LEAF is no longer given the exclusive auto sponsorship of NDEW. There are too many makers of EV's now - they all deserve equal footing in sponsorship opportunities. Make this a big tent event. NDEW banners should be hanging in Chevy, Ford, BMW, Hyundai, etc... dealerships next summer and they won't if they say the Nissan LEAF is the exclusive auto sponsor. Grow this event and keep the momentum going. FYI: I owned a LEAF for 4 years and 42,000 miles and loved it. |
| Naperville | Naperville, IL | The Fox Valley Electric Auto Association met at the Naperville automobile test track and started out with a Parade of over 30 electric vehicles at 1:15 around the area to generate some excitement. Cars returned to the track and either parked in the view / discussion area or they drove into the holding area of the test track so visitors could get their test drives. We had about 120 people involved as visitors/guests / EV owners/ participants and the day was a great success! |
| Urbana | Urbana, IL | Urbana Drive Electric Fair was a resounding success! Unfortunately, State Senator Scott Bennett could not attend, but Urbana Mayor Diane Marlin and Sustainability Director Scott Tess, as well as University of Illinois Professor Scott Willenbrock, gave remarks about the importance of EVs and renewable energy within the City's Climate Action Plan. We had over 20 EVs throughout the day, including some rare ones (in Central IL, at least) like the Chevy Bolt EV, Ford Focus Electric, Cadillac ELR, and even a homemade Volkswagen Golf conversion! Guests were full of questions for EV owners, and left with brand new insight into EVs. Two local news stations covered the Fair. All in all, a FANTASTIC first Drive Electric event here in Urbana, IL! |
| Carmel | Carmel, IN | It was a two day event at The Carmel Terrace Parking lot, in Carmel IN. Near their solarized battery powered charging station. The Sierra Club Heartland Group joined with the Hoosier EV Club to bring in volunteers and EV owners to display their cars and offer rides. Material on EV's was distributed and questions answered. It was a two day event (Sept. 9 & 10th). More people were at the event on the 10th. Also, on the 10th, Team Tesla came to demonstrate several models of their vehicles. |
| Overland Park | Overland Park, KS | Not our first time around at Black & Veatch. One of the biggest engineering firms in the region, they've been a leader in promoting EVs and expanded EV charging for years. A special tip of the hat is due to Bill Roush and Peter Loftspring at B&V for their continuing and enthusiastic support of the cause. This year's event saw a steady stream of visitors and drivers from the start, driving and inspecting Tesla models X and S, the Chevy Bolt, Nissan Leaf, Chevy Volt and the BMWi3. Beyond current models, there were a few retro offerings as well, including EV versions of a VW Bug and an EV retrofit version of a Black late 1960s Karmann Ghia (which, sadly, was on static display only). Looking forward to 2018! |
| Overland Park | Overland Park, KS | We started off with a parade into the event, led by a 1917 Detroit Electric. BMW sponsored the event, and had 4 e-cars for ride-and-drives, and one for static display. There was a Chevy Bolt on display from the dealer. The other cars (2 Leafs, 3 Teslas, a Ford Focus Electric, Chevy Spark, Zero motorcycle, a Karman Ghia conversion...) were privately owned. There were display tables staffed by people from the Metropolitan Energy Center, the regional electricity provider (KCPL), and a local nonprofit (MindDrive) that teaches high school students how to convert ICE cars to electric. We also had a terrific ride-and-drive display of e-bicycles from ERIKS'S Bicycles (these numbers are not included in the "Number of test rides/drives given" tally). We had great weather, and feel the event was very successful. |

| Lexington | Lexington, KY | Lexington, KY celebrated NDEW with Whole Foods Market new location and 2 EV chargers called ‘Electric Vehicle Day’. We had 18 vehicles from 8 EV models. EVolve KY group received comments from two EV owners who participated: We had a grand showing in Lexington. There were two tents, Tesla Model Xs and Ss, Chevy Bolt and Volt, Electric Fiat, Ford Focus, Nissan Leafs, and a VW E-Golf. We gave numerous rides and talked to a horde of interested folks. I gave about 30 to 40 people rides and everyone seemed to really enjoy them. I was glad Rod Hatfield Chevrolet come by with a new Bolt, they have only been in this area for a few weeks. We had 30 participating groups, including food and drink, utility companies, weatherization specialists, solar installers, Keep Abita Beautiful, local park organization, high school robotics team, and the Louisiana State University HyperLoop team. We had 2 bands on stage, the Lo Amps and the Abeatles. The weather was absolutely gorgeous! Kids enjoyed some hands on recycling demonstrations, robots, and an electric dune buggy. We had various organizations announce their offerings on stage. The Sierra Club had a welcome table, where the Nissan swag was given away, and people signed up for our Abita Committee for Energy Sustainability volunteer list. While we weren't able to host a Nissan Leaf, people really enjoyed the 2 hybrids from the local Kia dealership, and especially the 3 gorgeous Tesla's on display. |
| Baton Rouge | Baton Rouge, LA | The Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, Dr. Chuck Carr Brown spoke in a press conference held at our NDEW event to discuss the state's VW settlement, his desire to add EVs to the state fleet and encourage other departments to follow his lead. Ann Vail, Executive Director of Louisiana Clean Fuels spoke about automaker announcements about moving to the electric drive and on her coalitions work to improve EV infrastructure in the state. Two local TV stations covered the press conference. We had a map of the downtown EVSEs next to the podium with 6 EVs around the media beacon in our Town Square. Mayor President Broome, of East Baton Rouge Parish attended and spoke with the vehicle owners and took photos with the attendees. She posted photos of her visit on her social media pages as well. The head of the Energy Division of the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, Paul Miller also attended the event. Paul Bockelman, Amherst Town Manager, saw the EV display and reported plans to increase use of town LEAFs and public use of charging infrastructure. Members of local Citizens Climate Lobby and Carbon Action Now groups discussed efforts to promote Carbon Fee & Dividend legislation in MA. They proposed future EV events. |

| Cambridge | Cambridge, MA | Nissan provided a 60x30 tent and display the 2018 LEAF. This was very popular and crowded most of the day. There was also a 2012 Chevy Volt with 115,000 EV miles and a Tesla Model S with 95,000 miles on display to show excellent battery longevity. Rounding out the main display was a 2017 Toyota Prius Prime PHEV and a Chevy Bolt EV. XM Radio Host and comedian Pete Dominick walked around and recorded interviews with Drive Electric America's Mark Renburke (the event's City Captain) and others. The former Mayor of Cambridge, Henrietta Davis (a Chevy Bolt owner) made an appearance, as well as did Gina Coplon-Newfield , Director of Electric Vehicles Initiative for the Sierra Club (and a LEAF owner) and Eleanor Fort, Vehicles Campaign Manager with the Union of Concerned Scientists. In the ride and and drive lot there was a second set of around 15 cars. Two Model X and Two Chevy Bolts were giving test rides and drives, as were a couple test drive/ride Chevy Volts and Nissan LEAF. It was a diverse selection of brands and cars. |
| Gloucester | Gloucester, MA | We held the event at our waterfront municipal lot from 3 to 6 on Thursday afternoon, 9/14. We had the City's EV fleet on hand, one of the largest in the state, which included 6 Nissan Leafs and 2 BMW i3s. The Massachusetts Energy Consumers Alliance was also present, as was Gloucester Green, our local sustainability initiative. Dealerships include Peabody BMW, Lynnfield SMart, Sudbay Chevrolet, and Milford Nissan. 4 local residents brought their EVs, and 1 business. We had a steady stream of people coming in and out during the 3 hours, between 50 and 75 people total. Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken attended the meeting, as did Gloucester Police Chief John McCarthy. Next year we intend to do an event and provide food or entertainment to attract a larger audience. We may also partner with the local farmer's market, too. |

Three of the commissioners for the Marblehead Municipal Light Department we in attendance and were able to speak with residents about the benefits of the Marblehead EV program which includes free level 2 Wi-Fi charging stations for residents who get an EV. Residents were able to checkout a Chevy Bolt, Nissan Leaf, and Mercedes Smart EV, as well as ask questions of dealership staff regarding competitive incentives. |

Many attendees talked to car owners/enthusiasts, a nonprofit organization that has a group buy discount program for EVs, a State representative that promotes alternative fuel vehicles for transportation, and car dealership sales people. Quincy's Mayor Koch thanked the businesses that currently offer public charging stations, and announced plans to install municipal public charging stations, including at the new Central Middle School, which is under construction. |

Press releases were sent out in the week leading up to the event and social media posts were utilized. Residents were able to come find out more information about EVs and take a test drive in a Nissan Leaf provided by Kelly Woburn Nissan, as well as a Chevy Bolt provided by Liberty Chevy. Wakefield is offering residents a free level 2 wi-fi charging station if they purchase an electric vehicle, which drew a number of residents to the table. |

There were 22 community EV vehicles. The event opened with a 30 minute speaking portion with speeches from John Orr (Director of Sustainability at WPI), Secretary Matt Beaton (MA Secretary of Energy & Environmental Affairs), Aleta Fazzone (Director of Community Engagement at National Grid), and Gina Coplon-Newfield (Campaign Director for Clean Transportation For All at Sierra Club). The event produced 71 test drives and 47 passenger rides for a total of 118 EV experiences. |

We had the State of Massachusetts, Stephen Russell, and he spoke about out state programs. Anna Lauren from Mass Energy spoke about rebates and we had two dealership, GM and Nissan. I spoke about climate change and getting your car serviced. We had a panel discussion that was a hit. Cold drinks and Pizza and a beautiful day. We also showed a classic Honda Insight, first one sold in Massachusetts. |
| Annapolis | Annapolis, MD | Our event was held in the shadow of the Maryland State House, in one of the most historic districts in town. More cars showed up than were registered and the enthusiasm was palpable. The mayor of the City of Annapolis, Michael Pantelides, was present. He had declared it "Drive Electric Day in Annapolis" and presented us with a proclamation. He was accompanied by the alderman for this district, Joe Budge. There were also political candidates, including two people running for mayor and one person running for County Council. The highlight was the Hyattsville police department's Chevy Bolt police cruiser and Zero motorcycle. Annapolis police were very interested. The Fisker Karma was a head-turner, and Tesla was well-represented with 10 Model S, two Roadsters and two Model X. Two dealerships participated, Mercedes of Annapolis and Porsche of Annapolis. Porsche, along with SemaConnect, were sponsors. |
| Baltimore | Baltimore, MD | Baltimore is one of the top cities in the U.S. for electric vehicles. We have over 40 public EV charging stations, including DC fast charging just outside of City Hall, adjacent to the War Memorial Plaza with dedicated EV charging and parking. Our 2017 NDEW event combined electric bikes and cars, with Baltimore also having the second largest electric bike fleet of any city bike share fleet in North America. Hybrid Pedals is an electric bike business supporting clean transportation in Baltimore, Maryland and Northern Virginia. Our core organizers, John Lebo, co-founder of Hybrid Pedals, Frank Lee, Baltimore City EV champion, and Jill rode from Hybrid Pedals to Exelon's headquarters at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore. Exelon has created a for-profit subsidiary, EZ-EV, to encourage EV adoption and use. We were joined at Exelon's site by John Jay in his beeeeeautiful EMotion, which drew a crowd. We then rode and drove on to City Hall where we were joined by a Nissan LEAF and Ford Fusion. |
| Clarksville | Clarksville, MD | Clarksville Commons is a mixed-use development with strong commitment to sustainability and community - the perfect location to host an EV celebration. We put one of each kind of car on the plaza, and all other in one aisle of the parking lot for 'tailgating.' Three local dealerships brought cars, plus seven community members agreed to also park on the plaza and act as representatives for the make/model they own. The dealerships displayed Spark, Volt, Bolt, Leaf, and Fusion Plug-in. Community members brought Prius Plug-in, Tesla S, Tesla X, Mercedes-Benz B-Class, BMW i3 REx, Fiskar Karma, Think City, and a snazzy red sports car that someone made from a kit. We started organizing the event with just three weeks notice and were extremely pleased and delighted with our turn out! |
| Hyattsville | Hyattsville, MD | This was a combination "Green Expo" and NDEW Event. The number of EVs registered (29) in a short amount of time was overwhelming, and the large number of visitors (along with great weather, live music and give-a-ways) made for a fantastic "2nd Year" Annual Event for the City of Hyattsville. Some of the unique vehicles on display were a 2017 Chevrolet Bolt as a marked Hyattsville Police Vehicle (we think it's the first one in the country) and a marked Zero DSP Police Motorcycle. Both of these vehicles had all of their emergency lights on, which helped draw attention to the EV part of the event. We also had a (no longer available) 2014 Brammo Electric Motorcycle, which had a crowd around it the entire time, and a Tesla Model "X," which is always an attention-getter. We were very fortunate to have a nice variety of EV makes and models, and the response from the visitors was extremely positive. We were so happy with the turnout, that we are already planning next year's event! |
| Poolesville | Poolesville, MD | Poolesville Green’s 2017 National Drive Electric Week (NDEW) Poolesville Day Electric Vehicle Show was a huge success again this year! This was the 2nd year in a row the Poolesville event had the most Electric and Plugin Electric Hybrid Vehicles (EV/PHEV) registered on the east coast. Our EV show was the 3rd largest NDEW event out of 288 events worldwide. Poolesville Green partnered with the Town of Poolesville to bring this event to the Maryland/DC/Virginia area. We had major help and support from local organizations, MD Volt and One Montgomery and others like EVADC. We had over 120 Electric and Plugin Electric Hybrid Vehicles (EV/PHEV) come out and enjoyed the day. The event featured mostly EV owners, volunteering their time to help educate the public about what it is like to really own an Electric or Plugin Electric Hybrid Vehicle. Visitors were encouraged to talk to owners and test drive or ride many of the cars. Manufacturers and local dealerships also participated from Tesla, Sheehy Ford, DARCARS Nissan Rockville, Criswell Chevy, and more. Visitors learned what the real facts and what are the myths about EVs. They saw the different makes and models and what are the advantages and disadvantages of both. Also, the Classic Car Show returned this year and was co-located with the National Drive Electric Week show. We had the countries first Police Chevy Bolt (from City of Hyattsville Police Department). Miss Kitty, the Hello Kitty Smart EV car was also on static display at the Poolesville Green booth in the middle of all the Poolesville Day action on Fisher Ave. |

| South Paris | South Paris, ME | We had close to 40 EVs show up, 4 times more than just two years ago. 8 were available for test drives, thanks to William from Ripley & Fletcher, Emerson Toyota and Chevy, and Lee Nissan in Auburn. We also had individual’s cars to test drive from Michael at WJ Wheeler Insurance with his Chevy Bolt, Mike Dunn’s eGolf, Don Maclean’s Nissan Leaf and Zizi’s Leaf. We had 5 Teslas for viewing and riding in, a highlight for many! Thank you to Bharat for so graciously driving people around the area with air conditioning and showing us almost what the Ludicrous option feels like. Once we were able to detach our heads from the head rest, we were able to help pick up some easter eggs. We had 8 electric bikes available for riding and more people show up on their own eBikes. In 2015 we had 2. We had 2 local eBike sellers represented with Green Machine Bike Shop and Paris Autobarn, and were happy to be able to send customers their way. We had at least 278 people show up that we managed to count. Thanks to Darryl and John’s continuous tracking of people as visitors rolled in. And we had 25 kids show up, thanks to Jasper for clicking them. We had a generous donation of $250 from the Natural Resources Council of Maine (NRCM) that allowed us to reward EV and eBike test-drivers and -riders with a slice of that awesome pizza. We also had a generous $1,500 challenge grant from Sarah at 350 Maine to further PV2EV within our EV charger infrastructure project that CEBE has just started. It was immediately matched by our good friends at Paris Autobarn, so we now have an additional $3,000 for the project. Thanks to Nancy from 350 Maine for representing and helping to make this happen. We had 2 solid presentations about EVs that helped educate potential EV owners and answer their questions. Thank you to Travis and Tony for their South Paris (and Sierra Club Climate Conference) debut of EVs 101. And thank you to Brian Kent and his dad for relaying a real-life experience with EVs. |

About twice as many EVs and twice as many interested people flocked to this year's Kalamazoo drive-and-ride as we had for our first event in 2015. We also branched out this year, answering calls from folks in Hastings and South Haven to come show them what this growing electric-car excitement is all about. The news media is taking notice, too! A few days before we kicked off National Drive Electric Week with our drive-and-ride in Hastings, Rebecca Thiele of WMUK radio interviewed Ben Brown. Then Jim France of South Haven appeared with Ben on WWMT Newschannel 3's Lori Moore Show. At our drive-and-ride next to Waldo Stadium in Kalamazoo on Wednesday, Ben got interviewed again. So did Mike Walenga of the Kalamazoo Electric Vehicle Association. Special thanks to Barbara Haywood at the Hastings Library and to Jim France at the South Haven Library for inviting us and for doing such a fantastic job organizing and publicizing! We had 3 individuals show up with their personal vehicles (Tesla Model X, Tesla Model S and BMW X5 Hybrid). We visited all the local dealerships and reached out to the national contacts for Chevrolet, Ford and BMW provided by NDEW. Only the local Toyota dealership showed up with a Prius for the event. The other local dealerships had no interest in electric/hybrid vehicles and the national Chevrolet and Ford contacts did not return phone or email messages. The national BMW contact did respond but simply forwarded the event info to a dealership in the area which did not contact us or participate. The most disappointing factor was the local dealership for the national PLATINUM SPONSOR of this event (NISSAN) had no knowledge of the event when we met with them and had no interest in having a presence. It is still very clear the major auto manufacturers have no interest in promoting electric and hybrid vehicles. |

| Asheville | Asheville, NC | We had a great event in Asheville, NC with at least 800 people who stopped by and talked about EVs. This year we focused on display rather than rides, hence the low number of rides given. However, attendees were really interested in the type of EV's out there. Many said they were going to buy an electric car within the month.... In addition we had music, a trivia contest and prizes. This was probably the best event we have had in Asheville and people are now expecting from us every year. Some special features about our event: Model X pulling a solar powered camper. Sundance Solar array charging electric cars off grid. UNC-Asheville SAE electric race car built from scratch. Model X's dance of the wing doors. EV truck conversion built by a 10th grader... | Charlotte | Charlotte, NC | The 2017 Charlotte National Drive Electric Week event on September 15th went off without a hitch. A special thanks to the City of Charlotte for partnering with the Centralina Clean Fuels Coalition as co-hosts for this year's event. We had a great media presence with both Spectrum TV and the local Channel 9 news coming out to cover our event. Many thanks to the EV owners who showed up; we had a total of 14 vehicles present. While the audience was smaller than in recent years, there were still plenty of people interested in stopping by for a chat with an EV owner or getting in a vehicle to check out the features. Among the selection were several Nissan Leafs', a Fiat 500e, a Chevy Volt, a Tesla Model S and a Model X, a Ford C-MAX Energi, BMW brought two vehicles, a Mini Cooper and BMW 330e; Club Car brought a commercial, fit-to-task series work utility vehicle; Duke Energy's VIA truck; and an electric baggage tow vehicle from Piedmont Airlines, now owned by American Airlines. |
| Durham | Durham, NC | Plug-in NC and Advanced Energy were excited to plan the Raleigh National Drive Electric Week event for the 5th year in a row. This year's event was held in Research Triangle Park. It included and EV meetup, test drives from dealerships, educational displays and presentations, kid's activities and food trucks. It was a fun event for the whole family and we had a great variety of EVs! |
| Raleigh | Raleigh, NC | The event was over 2-days with a driver meet-up and ride & drive with dealer vehicles on Friday and vehicle show on Saturday at the NC State Football home opener. Vehicle line-up was outstanding with 37 vehicles between the owners and dealers on Friday and 16 on display for Saturday. The Tesla Models S and X, and the BMW I8 were big hits and got the most attention. The car show at the football game was a winner. An estimated 1,000 people walked through the display area and received information with an additional estimated 6,000 to 8,000 that walked by on their way into the game. We had a couple of EV owners help out on Saturday and they were the best spokespersons that we could have had. My big take away was that the public is very uniformed with regard to plug-in vehicles. I had several that after talking with them for a few minutes had their opinion on a plug-in vehicle go from absolutely no way to it could work and was a possibility. |
| Waynesville | Waynesville, NC | Nine members of the Blue Ridge EV Club interacted with about 200 people who stopped to learn about electric cars during the Waynesville, North Carolina Downtown Block Party (a closed street event with 2 bands and open businesses). We exhibited five cars and an information booth (the only booth or street display allowed). People were impressed by aspects of affordability (operating costs, new car discounts, used car value), availability and technology (2017 Tesla S fully autonomous and 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV). No test drives were able to be given. The well-respected, regional Land-of-Sky Clean Vehicle Coalition provided the major coordination and a variety of printed handouts. |
| Fargo | Fargo, ND | We had the mayors of the region all sign a proclamation declaring it Drive Electric Week. We made posters of this proclamation and distributed them to the local city halls for display all week long. It was sunny and pleasant, but very windy so not very helpful for printed materials. Mainly it was a drive in "car show." My own personal highlight was when a dad had is two kids laying flat on their backs looking and pointing out the batteries under the car! | Omaha | Omaha, NE | The Let's Drive Electric, Omaha! event was a big success with over 135 participants, 22 electric vehicles on display including 3 electric-assisted bicycles, and over 90 people attending the indoor presentations. The Extension Office venue worked well for us. The west parking lot was just the right size for the electric vehicle display. Don Cox allowed several people to test drive his Tesla Roadster. Five elected officials attended: Douglas County Cmsr. James Cavanaugh, State Sen. John McCollister representing the venue's district, Bellevue City Councilman Don Preister, Omaha Public Power District Board Mbr Craig Moody, and former Sen. Ken Haar. | Concord | Concord, NH | We had a great turnout of cars, dealers and people interested in EVs. I've been at this event 5 years now and this was by far the best year. The crowd was showing interest and asking more and better questions than past years. The most common questions as expected were how much range and cost. Many asked questions to their specific use, something we did not see as much in past years. Questions like can I flat tow it, how do I charge it, is there an electric truck. I even had someone want to see how many sheep they could fit in my Bolt EV. We also had more dealers present than past years. BMW had 4 models, Ford 2, Chevy 3, Toyota 1, Volvo 1. I had 2 people say to me their next car will be electric. I think we are making a difference here in NH. The group of volunteers are continuing the effort. We're trying to get more EV chargers in the state this year. |
| Durham | Durham, NH | Our event runs at Wagon Hill Farm in coordination with our annual town fair. As a result, hundreds of residents flow through our upper meadow vehicle display area on their way to a large free BBQ, live music, many informational displays, and a beautiful waterfront scene. As a result, we get not only 20 electrical vehicle enthusiasts and car shoppers hoping to see many EVs in one place, but also each year attract new converts to the electric vehicle fold as they walk by on their way to the lunch tables. A festive happy atmosphere predominates and we highly recommend this as a model for increasing the visibility of area EVs. Our sister event in Portsmouth also went well as it was easier to access for dealers and very well managed. Most of us left the Durham event at 2PM and arrived in Portsmouth increasing their number of cars on display and supporting the dealers with user/owner testimonials. |

| Andover | Andover, NJ | The event was held at Green Life Market, a garden center/organic food market. On display were two Teslas, a Chevy Bolt, a Ford Fusion, a Plug-in Prius Prime, and two standard Toyota Hybrids. Advertising was principally done through Social Media via Green Life Market's and Skylands Group Facebook pages and email lists. Posters were also denominated in the area. Our Press Release was published in the NJ Herald two days before the event. We encountered rain which affected attendance. Never the less, the participants that did attend were very engaged and inquisitive. Due to insurance constraints, no test drives were provided. We encouraged everyone to contact local dealerships for test drives and told them of the nearby Morristown Event. |
| Atlantic City | Atlantic City, NJ | ACUA’s third National Drive Electric Event was held on Tuesday, September 12 from 12 – 2 pm. The event was held in partnership with the NJ chapter of Sierra Club with participation from the NJ DEP. This was ACUA’s third annual Drive Electric Week event, and brought 25 EVs to the Wastewater Treatment Facility. About 70 participants took advantage of the opportunity to speak with EV owners as well as car dealerships. Owners had the chance to share their experience with prospective EV buyers who are eager to learn about the vehicles, the charging infrastructure and costs and savings that can be realized. Representatives from Chapman Ford, Matt Blatt Kia, and Kerbeck Chevrolet brought vehicles to showcase. After welcoming guests and sharing information on ACUA’s experience and a local perspective on building infrastructure from Rick Dovey, speakers from Sierra Club and the NJ DEP added information on the growth and importance of this clean form of transportation. |

We tracked a few attendees that had traveled ten miles to be there! The local Nissan Dealer reported 29 enquires the day after the event. | Metuchen | Metuchen, NJ | Meet the Owners at Metuchen Farmer's Market. This is the last year they will likely have parking for our event as the new condo dwellers downtown will take the spots that we need for the event. Next year we will probably only have 6-8 cars. |
| Morristown | Morristown, NJ | This year no dealer test drives but a Model S driver took people out The highlight was the return of the 1917 Detroit Electric Model 68. The owners rive it on local roads for 15 miles to get to our event. This year we had a birthday cake to celebrate the EV turning 100. I said a few words and pointed out to the drivers and public joining us that in just a few years we now have over 10 manufacturers represented in our one parking lot where before we maybe had 4. Another highlight were the 4 Tesla Model Xs that did the Christmas Easter Egg all at once. The event this year was probably the most fun, lots of laughs, meeting up with old friends and a ton of walk ins with great questions and interests. The event is located on the main walk way in the town so we get lots of foot traffic. We went 45 mins overtime because we were so busy, this year the majority of drivers stayed the entire event. Finally we had a news crew that joined us after learning about the event, they were there for about 2 hrs interviewing people and documenting the goings on. |
| Park Ridge | Park Ridge, NJ | Our inaugural EV event was a big hit as part of the larger car show. The community was engaged and very interested in electric cars but are not ready to buy one yet. | Vincentown | Vincentown, NJ | This year we had 35 EVs, 2 electric bicycles and an electric skateboard. Awards were presented to Peter for the most EV miles on his Model S (75,000) and to Brandon for the furthest distance driven in his Leaf to attend the event (115 miles). The charging outlet that was installed since last year got plenty of use as did the 2 temporary charging stations brought in for this event. We have great drone footage thanks to Nick. Barlow Chevy brought a Bolt for everyone to test drive. Mt Holly Motorsports provided lunch for everyone and we had an electric themed playlist of music all day. One EV driver made out pretty good on the 50/50 and everyone had a great time. This years event was bigger than last year and we are already looking forward to 2018! |

We had the Land of Enchantment Clean Cities Coalition, BMW, Energy Efficiency representatives, and electric utility representatives at the event providing information to those that attended the event. Local supporting organizations included the Nevada Electric Vehicle Accelerator program from REA250.org, Las Vegas Electric Vehicle Association, Sierra Club Toiyabe Chapter, Clean Energy Project, Citizens Climate Lobby, SolarNV, NV Energy, Green Alliance of Nevada, Las Vegas Tesla Owners, Verdek, and ChargePoint. An electric car rally featured about 40 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and battery-powered electric vehicles from worldwide automotive manufacturers, including Tesla Roadster, Tesla Model S, Tesla Model X, Nissan LEAF, GM Chevrolet Volt, GM Chevrolet Spark EV, Ford Fusion Energi, Ford Focus EV, Fiat 500e, Daimler Smart ED, BMW i3, and Mitsubishi i-MiEV. |

| Pleasantville | Pleasantville, NY | The exposure to non-EV drivers and the interest of attendees to become more sustainable in their life-style is a great synergy of having an electric vehicle showcase of 4 of most popular vehicles at Westchester County's Largest Farmers Market. Not only is it a good synergy, but the market is massive popular and has won 4 years in a row Best Farmers Market in Westchester. Over 3,300 people were at the farmers market and 1986 entered via our entrance which requires walking past our EV showcase. We had a LOT of exposure. |
| Poughkeepsie | Poughkeepsie, NY | Poughkeepsie NY's Drive Electric Event was a great time! We held it at Marist college along the Hudson River and since we weren't allowed to give test drives we compensated by having lots of great scheduled talks. Seth Weintraub from electrek.co led us off with a talk about how to talk to the public about EVs. This was followed by an hour of talks by government officials from the towns of Red Hook and Rhinebeck about rebates available to New York communities for installing charging stations. The last hour was jam packed - an introduction to EVs course, a recap of a tour of the Tesla factory and a panel discussion talking about the future of electric cars. Throughout the talks over 25 owners showed off their cars to the many students and visitors that came by. The Model X was a big hit with the college kids, some of whom had come on assignment from their classes. So, all in all a beautiful day in the hudson valley and hopefully lots of future EV drivers as well! |
| Riverhead | Riverhead, NY | Warm mid-70s and clear sunny skies helped make a great day, as we celebrated our 6th Annual National Drive Electric Week event at the Tanger Outlets in Riverhead, NY on Sunday September 17. Approximately 175 people were on hand to see, ride in, or drive the 26 EVs & PHEVs brought to the event by proud vehicle, owners, local dealerships, and solar power vendors. We had ten different models on display, which included 3 Chevy Bolts, 4 Chevy Volts, 2 Nissan Leafs, 1 Ford C-Max Energi, 1Focus EV, 4 Kia Souls, 2 Prius Primes, 1 Fiat 500e, 7 Tesla Model S, and 1 Tesla Roadster. Nine test drives were given to potential future EV/PHEV owners of the Bolt, Volt and Prius Prime. Tesla S and Nissan Leaf owners took passengers on about 8 test rides. One of our solar power vendors had a solar powered Level 1 electric vehicle charger on display. |

| Schenectady | Schenectady, NY | Last year around this time, we were rejoicing over having completed our best NDEW event ever in Delmar, NY. This year we took it to an even higher level. Thanks to all of our dedicated Capital District EV Drivers group members, our volunteer workers, local dealers, Proterra buses, and the City of Schenectady for allowing us to knock it out of the park with our 5th annual event. Months of planning came together and with clear skies, the EV movement marched right into the heart of the Electric City. The event speakers in attendance were City of Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy, Alicia Barton, President and CEO New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, and New York's 20th congressional district Congeressman Paul D. Tonko. Proterra provided an E2 electric bus for free shuttle rides loops around the city bringing show goers. There were five dealer vehicles available for test drives, including a BMW i3, two Kia Soul EVs, a Volt and a Bolt EV. |
| Syracuse | Syracuse, NY | Our second annual "Drive and Shine" electric vehicle and clean energy expo featured 20 BEVs and PHEVs including a variety of makes and models such as Tesla S, Tesla X, Nissan Leaf, VW e-Golf, Toyota Prius Prime, Toyota RAV4 EV, BMW i3 REx, BMW 530e, Smart fortwo, Chevy Volt, and Chevy Bolt. In addition, several solar PV and geothermal installers participated as well as clean technology companies such as Spark Charge, which is developing a portable EV charging solution, and Small Grid, maker of the The Life Wall which provides solar energy, battery storage, high efficiency heating, cooling, domestic hot water, and fresh air exchange in one package. Several candidates for Syracuse mayor spoke as well as local sustainability experts. The event was sponsored by the Central New York Regional Planning & Development Board, Alliance for a Green Economy, GreeningUSA, Climate Change Awareness and Action, New Yorkers for Clean Power, National Grid and SUNY-ESF. |
| Akron | Akron, OH | The weather was good, two food trailers turned up, the facilities were decent, but a lot of the surrounding area was torn up by construction. This, along with the limited degree of promotion the various groups present, probably cut our attendance in half. If we could have had a spot on a plaza or another location that would be more friendly to pedestrians, we might meet with more success. Perhaps we'll be able to hold it in Cuyahoga Falls next year once they finish converting their old pedmall back to a low-speed road. Such a location would also offer the ability to demonstrate chargers. We had a good mix of vehicles, including a pair of Tesla Model S. The first-generation Chevrolet Volt was dominant. I should have asked a few more people to wash their Volts up beforehand, it does wonders for curb appeal. The engine display was a happy accident, but the Tesla guy couldn't easily take out his frunk. Both me and Tom Dolezal managed to get into the company bulletin, so that's a plus. |
| Albany | Albany, OH | The EV Ride & Drive and EV Showcase at the 2017 Ohio Pawpaw Festival was one of our most successful EV awareness events over the last 2 years of our organization's (UpGrade Ohio) EV advocacy work. The Pawpaw Fest drew up to 5,000 people on Saturday, the day of our EV event. We assume that at least 10%, at the peak, engaged with our Ride & Drive or our EV display. The Ohio Pawpaw Festival was started by current County Commissioner, Chris Chmiel, who was also an instrumental player in the beginning phases of our "UpGrade Athens County" project. Chris participated by seeing the various EVs on display - which included a custom-made PEV, a Corbin Sparrow (photo), a Chevy Volt, and a Tesla Model X. The EVs available for our Ride & Drive, though only utilized by 5 people/couples, were the Ford Fusion plug-in hybrid and the Nissan Leaf. In this week (Friday), we also applied to a local foundation's grant application for installing a public-use charging station; we applied to install the same ClipperCreek model that will be given away for NDEW 2017, for visitors of Nelsonville, Ohio's public square. If we win the ClipperCreek charger, we will be sure to install it in a key area that helps fulfill our mission of creating a robust electric transportation corridor on US-33 from Columbus through Appalachian Ohio to the West Virginia border. |
| Athens | Athens, OH | On Saturday, September 9th, the Village Bakery unveiled its new electric vehicle (EV) charger. UpGrade Ohio (Athens) - an organization that connects people with local resources to reduce energy use and to access renewable energy solutions-donated the charger, which is supported by 100% renewable energy. It runs on a combination of purchased wind power and energy from the solar panels atop the bakery's roof. Bob O'Neil, co-owner of the bakery, said this was always on the business plan. "We were really excited to install the charger as a part of National Drive Electric Week." He noted that sustainability has always been an important part of the bakery. "It's time to move away from fossil fuels and towards national and global responsibility. We can do it-we are." Bob emphasized the ease of installation. "All you need is a parking spot and somewhere to put the charger. It's like hooking up a dryer." He encourages people to stop by, have a bite to eat, top off (if their cars allow)! |
| Cincinnati | Cincinnati, OH | We had a great time at our 2nd Annual NDEW event in Cincinnati! Many test rides and drives were provided. BMW North of Cincinnati and Jake Sweeney Chevrolet were busy giving almost continuous test drives in the BMW i3, i8, 530e and Chevy Bolt. Many local EV owners also brought their cars and motorcycles to proudly show off, with several offering ride and drives in the Leaf, Volt, Model S and Model X. We also had a Cadillac ER, Toyota Plug-in Prius, and a Mitsubishi i-MiEV. The Mitsubishi owner showed how the car could be used to power an electric grill to cook hamburgers, and passed out free hotdogs to anyone who would sign the Sierra Club Petition! We also had a few other very special EV attractions: The local Workhorse Group made the Cincinnati debut of the first electric pickup truck ever built from the ground up, the hybrid W-15. Two local news stations were on hand to do stories about the truck. The Garage OTR brought multiple electric Segways, bicycles and scooters for people to try out, providing a lot of fun and entertainment! |

| Columbus State Community College | Columbus, OH | In Columbus 2017, a four hour long Drive & Ride event was held on the campus of Columbus State Community College, lead by Clean Fuels Ohio, and assisted by these five Columbus organizations and EV advocates: September 17 Highlights: Informative tours by the Columbus State AUTO Technology Lab and educational program. The school offers certificates in Automotive Vehicles repairs, including EVs. The Electrical Trades Center of Central Ohio & IBEW, installed on site an Alternative Demonstrator (G-PAD), at no cost. It allowed solar energy to provide power for a DJ, and to educate the public, drivers and spectators about their training and employment programs. Orbit City Electric Bikes provided many unusual and electric assist bikes for test rides. Orbit owner Tom Bennett shared that he conducted over 40 test rides - more than any other event! The Ohio Sustainability Business Council and Design Energy talked about solar, charging stations and other EV and sustainability issues. EV Owners were pleased that the folks that visited came specifically to learn and chat about EV vehicles. They also appreciated having music, a food truck, with plenty of chairs and tables, as the festive atmosphere led people to hang around for hours. |

Mr. Sheehy took the time to speak with guests, and express strong concerns for promoting hybrid, electric, and autonomous vehicles. |

We had a Bolt and Prius Prime from dealerships available for test drives, and local EV drivers brought a Leaf, i3, Tesla Model S and X, and Volt. Our local NPR affiliate ran two stories on EVs which included the event in the 24 hours leading up to the event, so that brought many people out as we. It was a fun event, and most of the people who interacted with the cars had never experienced an EV before. |
| Bend - Pine Mountain Sports | Bend, OR | A local bicycle shop that has a solar powered EV charging station invited us to hold this Ride & Drive event on their front lawn and in the parking lot. We had 12 electric cars and 1 electric motorcycle, and 2 electric bikes in attendance. Visibility was excellent as the event was held on a very busy street corner with lots of drive by traffic and some honking and waving from passing EV drivers (some of who stopped in to see that was happening). |
| Bend - Compass Park | Bend, OR | We had a meet up at a neighborhood park which was adjacent to a Saturday farmers market. We had about 15 electric vehicles in attendance including 2 motorcycles. A lot of people from the neighborhood walked down to look at cars, talk to owners, and take test drives from the 2 dealers who had brought a BMW i3 and a Nissan Leaf. Most of the cars in attendance were members of the Bend Electric Vehicle Club. |
| Portland | Portland, OR | Portland was in the "second wave" of events with the 2018 LEAF. EV owners were mostly undeterred by the heavy smoke and ash from distant forest fires, and it served to underscore one of the main benefits of driving electric - clean air! We had over 20 different models represented among the 100+ EV's that attended and over 2 million "Electric Miles" from those that displayed signs. The event was in Tesla's backyard (they have a store in the shopping center) and the local owners group turned out in force. The Tesla store brought out a few cars to provide "Ludicrous" rides to attendees, a gorgeous Roadster stopped in, and we had three examples of Model X's with travel trailers. The friendly staff at the Nissan booth estimated that they had 400 to 500 people visit, and over 100 signed up for later test drive events. The display was entirely powered by the OSU Solar Trailer. Everything from the T-shirt press printing custom shirts, to the TV and the tablets visitors used to sign up for more information. The trailer has a 25 kWh battery pack, an 1800 watt tracking solar array and a built in L2 EVSE (we used it top off some test drive vehicles). Hugely popular was the free SubZero ice cream - frozen to order with liquid nitrogen. Thanks Nissan! Many folks also got their first look at the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid and Honda Clarity Electric. Other notable dealer displays (some with test drives) were the Audi A3 e-tron, BMW i3 & iPerformance plug-ins, Chevy Bolt & Volt, Fiat 500e, Porsche Cayenne PHEV, and Toyota Prius Prime. Representing the less than 4 wheel class were Zero motorcycles and the upcoming Arcimoto SRK (test drives were very popular). We had vehicles and a display inside the Mall for the duration of NDEW, and volunteers from the OEVA were able to hang out when they had time to chat with people about EV's and promote the event. Hats off to all the volunteers and owners that contributed their time and energy to make this (and all) NDEW events possible! |
| Yachats | Yachats, OR | We had a wonderful event. We had support from our Lincoln City neighbors and even folks from Hillsboro, brought EV's to Yachats. We had locals come out and show off their Leafs, a Bolt, a Fit and a Prius Prime. We had a woman with 2 Leafs, who uses a home solar charger for both vehicles. Lots of great discussions, and excellent information was shared. |
| Cranberry Township | Cranberry Township, PA | This was our third EV car show in cooperation with National Drive Electric Week and had the fewest participating vehicles of all the shows. The poor vehicle turnout can be attributed to a several of factors, primary of which was another NDEW event 25 miles away. Another contributing factor was the local Nissan, Chevrolet dealers and Tesla were unable to bring cars. However, we feel it was the most successful in terms of attendee interest and participation. We had beautiful weather and a steady flow of attenders, all spending quality time in checking out the cars and questioning owners. Being on the East Coast and in Pennsylvania naturally limited the makes and models, but we did have a good mix to display. Chevrolet led the turnout with 2 Bolts and 2 Volts, and Tesla made scene with 2 Model S.' Making first time appearance was a Hyundai Sonata Plug-in, Volvo XC90, BMW 530e, and Toyota Prius Prime. The Ford Fusion Energi, Nissan Leaf, and Mitsubishi iMiEV all had single entries as well. Overall, it was a good show. |

| Pittsburgh | Pittsburgh, PA | You could not have asked for a more perfect day. The weather was great, and it started to get really hot after the event was over. We had a fantastic variety of cars, some that I had never seen before on the East Coast, like the Fiat 500E, and the Smart Electric Drive fortwo. The location was optimal. Thanks to Bakery Square and Walnut Capital for hosting, and Duquesne Light for supporting National Drive Electric Week ! Thanks also to Nissan for the giveaways!! Encouraged by the number of cars that showed up for an EV motorcade - 16 cars! Need a police escort the next time to breeze though traffic. Tried to get the Mayor of Pittsburgh to attend ,but he was on a canoe trip. Disappointed in the lack of media coverage for this event, so next year, we'll have to be more aggressive in reaching out to the TV, radio, and print media. Overall, a very good day. A lot of owners got to talk to the public and each other about their cars, and made new friends in the process! |

| Westerly | Westerly, RI | Rhode Island's Fourth Annual National Drive Electric Week was graciously hosted by the Misquamicut Business Association at the Misquamicut Beach Fallfest. This event was a partnership between Ocean State Clean Cities at the University of Rhode Island, Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, Rhode Island Department of Health, Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources, and the Rhode Island Department of Transportation. Participating vendors included ChargePoint, NBX Bikes, People's Power & Light, and National Grid / RISE Engineering. Dealerships on hand included Paul Masse Chevrolet, Valenti Toyota, and BMW Of Warwick. The Seventh Annual Misquamicut Fallfest weekend ran from Friday, September 15 to Sunday, September 17 and featured a variety of activities for the whole family including live entertainment, antique car show, rides, and food trucks. The Misquamicut Business Association offered free admission vouchers to Fallfest for drivers who brought their EVs to the event, as well as anyone who participated in a test drive. Additionally, this event was part of the US Department of Energy's "Plug In Electric Vehicle Adoption In New England" award in partnership with Plug In America. People who participated in test drives were encouraged to fill out a survey before and after their experience to gauge their awareness and interest level regarding plug in vehicles. |

Dealers that participated: Dick Dyer Volvo, Audi of Columbia, BMW of Columbia (main sponsor), McDaniels Porsche. Chevy was supposed to attend but declined even after contacting Megan at GM Corporate. Cars ranged from BMW i8 to Teslas to Mitsubishi i-MiEV. Tesla and Leaf owners provided test rides and drives. Weather was perfect! |
| Rapid City | Rapid City, SD | We had several people ask about the advantages of have an EV. The Volt owner in particular was very enthusiastic and able to convey his sense of excitement with not only the economy, but the fun of driving his EV. Although Nissan did drop off a Leaf, we were a little disappointed that it was an older loaner model and they couldn't provide any representatives to attend the event, so it just sat there locked. We got no sales literature from either Chevrolet nor Nissan & no posters or T-shirts from driveelectricweek.org, so we could only talk to people about what we were trying to do, but there was no information to handout, etc. However, we did get two new DRA members, so overall felt it was worthwhile. |
| Chattanooga | Chattanooga, TN | Our very successful Drive Electric – Chattanooga celebration of National Drive Electric Week festivities was included with the Second Saturday on Station Street event orchestrated by the Chattanooga Choo Choo and the Songbirds Foundation. The “Second Saturday on Station Street” this September 9th attracted over 1,500 attendees to enjoy live bands, street vendors and our displays of electric vehicles. We estimate that between 400 and 500 people stopped to talk to our vehicle owners and examine our displays. We were proud to host the mayor of Chattanooga Andy Berke who visited our displays and talked with our vehicle owners. He was then invited by the Songbirds Foundation to the stage to address the crowd where he presented the Drive Electric Chattanooga organization with a city proclamation that declared September 9-16, 2017 as “Chattanooga Drive Electric Week.” The highlights of our event were covered in an article in the Chattanooga Time Free Press. | Knoxville | Knoxville, TN | The Knoxville EV Association (KEVA), East Tennessee Clean Fuels (ETCF), and Black Bear Solar Institute's National Drive Electric Week Event at Whole Foods on Saturday, September 16 was a great event! We had 15 EVs, with nine different models/styles represented (Chevy Volt & Bolt, Nissan LEAF, Tesla Model X & S, Honda Ensight, and 3 custom built vehicles). Whole Foods' two EV charging stations were also front and center. We gave over 55 ride and drives, with one of East Tennessee's first Chevy Bolts stealing the show with dozens of test drives! We estimate approximately 150 people participated and attended, and over 175 one-on-one conversations took place between our volunteers and members of the public about EVs. Our local NBC affiliate featured the event on their website and on their broadcast that evening |
| Knoxville - Neyland Stadium | Knoxville, TN | This event was jointly managed by the East Tennessee Clean Fuels Coalition (Jonathan Overly) and the Univ. of Tennessee at Knoxville EcoCAR 3 program that is part of the Tickle College of Engineering. We obtain approval for and end up having some very valuable space right in front of one of the largest entrances to Neyland Stadium where the UT Vols plan football and which holds over 100,000 people. We cannot do test drives because of the large flow of traffic walking by us around and into the stadium during the event. We had 4 vehicles: UTK's EcoCAR 3 hybridized Chevy Camaro, a UTK Nissan Leaf, a Chevy Bolt, and last but not least a converted 1989 Blakely Bernardi that is a pure EV. The Knoxville Electric Vehicle Association assisted in bringing the Bernardi and staffing the booth for the day. In addition to me, our intern Coral Thayer helped out that day as did about 10 students from the UTK EcoCAR 3 Program. We started five hours before kickoff, so we meet many people throughout the time we re there. |
| Memphis | Memphis, TN | We had a really great turn out. One fella drove from Arkansas in his Chevy Volt. Very cool. Some new cars we had the privileged to see were the all new Toyota Prius Prime (Thank you Kai), A 2018 plug-in Hybrid Mini Cooper Countryman (Thank you Roadshow MINI). The weather was great and the park was packed so we had more folks than we could count that checked out all the electric cars, asked questions, and listened to all the cool stories EV owners had to share about driving electric. The Sunset Valley market operated by Austin's Sustainable Food Center provided great cross-traffic and food! In addition to EVs, we also had booths from our local Smart Charge America installer, electric utility, 2 solar companies and a non-profit promoting climate action. Not bad for an event organized in under 2 months! |
| Corpus Christi | Corpus Christi, TX | This was the 1st year event in Corpus Christi, which is a town many people work at the oil refineries. I was happy with the number of cars and people that showed up this year. I hope to triple the number for next year's event. Only one dealer about 15 miles away even sells plug-in vehicles and they did not bring any. I stopped by every new car dealer and even the Nissan dealer doesn't sell Nissan LEAFs. The people who attended had good questions and an interest in EVs. I am hoping some of them show up with their own EVs next year. | Grapevine | Grapevine, TX | The 2017 Dallas-Forth Worth (DFW) Clean Cities National Drive Electric Vehicle event was the third to be held at Grapevine Mills Mall. The event has seen significant year over year increases in attendees—individuals and vehicles—and we are proud to report that the event had more than 500 attendees registered! Also of note, registered vehicles had driven more than 4.8 million electric miles—a staggering increase over the 1.8 million electric miles reported from the 2016 event. The increase of electric miles driven is attributed by the high number of Teslas in attendance. In total there were 20 distinct makes and models on display—ranging from luxury sport cars like Fisker’s Karma to more family friendly vehicles like the Chevy Bolt, Nissan Leaf, or Tesla-- highlighting that EV models suitable for any lifestyle are available TODAY! In addition to the 155 assembled EVs, the event boasted more than a dozen exhibitors, remarks from Councilman Mike Taylor, and prizes. Additional successes are that previous Grapevine Mills Mall NDEW events have resulted in EV sales and some participants drove as much as 340 miles each way to attend the event! The Saturday EV gathering was followed by a week-long webinar series. Webinar topics included EV opportunities for utilities, for municipalities, for employers, and how to sell and EV. You know you are getting straightforward answers and not a sales pitch.” |

We had 9 EVs attend. There were about 100 people that circulated through the parking lot to the brewery and checked out the EVs. Virginia Clean Cities coordinated with Pale Staff to secure the parking location in the middle of the parking area. VCC had a display table for all the promotional and educational materials. Sigora Solar also attended to discuss the positive impact that solar and EVs can make when combined together. VCC purchased pizza for the attendees. |
| Manassas | Manassas, VA | When I heard that former Congressman and former Gubernatorial candidate Tom Perriello was going to do a panel discussion to discuss How the Local Environment Effects Brewing at the BadWolf Brewing company, the place where I held my first Plug-In Day event back in 2013, during Drive Electric Week 2017, I knew we had to do something. We showed Mr. Perriello a Tesla Model S, with Summon, a 2016 Nissan LEAF SL, #CO2Fre, and a Chevy Bolt, then we all attended the panel discussion inside. It was a great, low-key event to cap off my 11th event as captain. |
| Richmond - Libbie Mill - Midtown | Richmond, VA | A ribbon-cutting that was actually more than that – it was the symbolic severing of a gas pump hose -- marked Richmond's largest private investment in public charging for electric vehicles. Congressman A. Donald McEachin and the Honorable Harvey Hinson, Brookland District Supervisor in Henrico County, spoke. Alleyn Harned, VCC executive director, introduced the congressman. Several electric vehicles were on display. There was also a screening of a documentary short called “EVolve: Driving a Clean Future in Coal Country.” The 20-minute film chronicles the challenges of EV advocacy in Kentucky. Registered attendees report 193,761 electric miles driven. |
| Richmond | Richmond, VA | Drive Electric RVA reached its widest audience yet for our fourth annual celebration of National Drive Electric Week. This year, we had 21 electric vehicles on display at the entrance to the South of the James Farmers Market, the largest in metro Richmond. A typical market draws more than 2,000 people, and we estimate that we connected with about 750 attendees. We also offered test drives of the Chevy Volt and Ford C-MAX Energi at a nearby church. The display included the latest mass market EVs as well as unique offerings like the ELF velomobile and several models of electric assist bicycles. In addition, Dominion Energy sponsored a drawing for 10 free memberships in our Electric Auto Association chapter, while the Virginia chapter of the Sierra Club helped publicize the event along with media sponsor WCVE-FM. Finally, we tested prototypes of exhibits that we are developing for a future EV education center in Richmond. |

| Issaquah | Issaquah, WA | The State of Washington was represented in two ways the Govenor signed a proclimation and the project director for the electric highway partnerships attended and also displayed one of the nearly 100 Chevy Bolts that the state has ordered for their fleet use. The weather was threatening to rain and it did at 2pm or so. This location is known for car shows and does a Sunday car show from early spring until late in the fall. The Govenor also wants to double the number of EVS in the next few years and is looking for inovative ways to do so like a dealer sales training and bonus program for their EV product specialists. We did not do onsite test drives or rides howeve did sign up folks who will be called by the dealer for test drives. This is a measure of "conversion" as they say in marketing terms. Converstion measures The efficacy of marketing, It is measured by the conversion rate, i.e. the number of customers who have completed a transaction divided by the total number of website or marketing event visitors. |

| Richland | Richland, WA | A small, but growing, local event with about 20 EVs including a new BOLT driven 90 mi from a Ritzville farm, 4 Tesla, 2 BMWi, MiEV, and lots of Leafs & Volts. No city dignitaries, but a ppt presentation on NDEW, MCEVA, BEV-PHEVs, charging, and grid electricity. Many Tesla and Bolt test rides. |
| Spokane | Spokane, WA | We did our best with some very bad luck. We were unveiling a new fast charger system and had a press conference planned. The day before our event, one student was killed and three more were injured in a shooting at a local high school. We cancelled the press conference. All the local media were tied up with the shooting. Our air quality had been bad for weeks due to nearby forest fires. Our Air Quality Index that day was over 150, which is considered unhealthy for everyone. We shouldn't have been outside. I could taste it in the back of my throat by the end of the day. Neither of our two area Nissan dealerships had a single Leaf in stock. They are getting the 2018 in December and don't want dead 2017s hanging around the lot anymore. Ford also had no vehicles to bring. BMW, a supporter in past years, did not have a product advisor available. Despite having no media or dealership support and minimal public, we did our best. I was pleased with the spread of cars, which included Fiat, Think and Ford along with the Chevys, Teslas and Nissans I expected. We also had a local electric bike company bring their machines. We all learned from that. The odds were stacked against us, but we influenced at least a few minds. |
| Steilacoom | Steilacoom, WA | Our annual NDEW Steilacoom event grows every year, which indicates growth in EV ownership and interest. Having the 4 hour event in our small historic town with all it's amenities helps draw visitors. Some attendees just happened to be visiting the town. Support from the Town of Steilacoom and the local Chamber of Commerce was outstanding. Vehicle numbers this year was 80 which beats the last 3 years numbers of 19, 25 and 40. The Pierce County Transit Protera EcoRide BE 35 all electric bus presence and the hourly bus ride around town was an extra special winner! Weather was perfect (mostly overcast in high 60s!). | Vancouver | Vancouver, WA | Twenty four EVs and their wonderful owners plus countless others celebrated NDEW2017 in a downtown Vancouver park on Sept 9. Two vehicles greeted hundreds of farmers market patrons, while most gathered on a bricked, pedestrian plaza to answer people's questions, share their love for EVs, and speak of the rEVolution that's at hand. Hundreds of patrons from the Peace and Justice Fair were lured in to speak to these passionate volunteers who gave up their day to spread the word on electric cars. All electrics on hand were: 6 Nissan Leafs, 2 Chevy Bolts, 1 Fiat 500e, 2 Mitsubishi i-MiEVs, 1 BMW i3, 1 Ford Focus electric, and of course the dedicated Tesla crowd with 6 Model S and 4 Model X (one was even pulling a trailer!). Oh, and electric bikes too! Plug-in hybrids included 3 Chevy Volt and 1 Prius Prime. Thanks to Clark PUD (our amazing utility) for sponsoring the event locally and to Green Ridge Solar for supplying authentic bagels and cream cheese to all the volunteers! |
| Walla Walla | Walla Walla, WA | The Walla Walla NDEW Event was held in conjunction with the 21'st annual Wheelin' Walla Walla - a main street car show featuring classics to current vehicles and drawing around 400 participants and three to five thousand visitors including City and regional leadership. The event saw five plug in electric vehicles participating. A Nissan Leaf (2012), a Tesla Model X (2016), a Tesla Roadster (2013), a Chevrolet Volt (2017) and a Volkswagon Karman-Ghia conversion. While few in number, the electric vehicles drew visitors' attention, questions, and commentary throughout the duration of the well attended event. We look forward to hosting more plug-in electric vehicles in 2018 and continuing to advocate for widespread adoption. |
| Appleton | Appleton, WI | We had about the number of spectators we expected ...We had only 8 exhibitors selling Electric components, toy cars, Books, Car Parts, Sunglasses, Car loans and Misc stuff normally vended at car shows here in Wisconsin. The vendors reported low sale volume but were optimistic about next years events.We added 3 cars day of show and all the car exhibitor were pleased with the outcome. We even had people investigating Personal Mobility but had no Bike or 2 wheel EV demonstrations. Our greatest disappointment was lack of dealer involvement... Perhaps It is because Berstrom who dominates car sales here has a policy that discourages EV sales or the fact that there are laws in Wisconsin prohibiting car sales on Sunday. We could only get 3 Good sponsors and did not defray costs of event administration. Our greatest cost was location fees, which provided a shelter for exhibitors, charging outlets, restrooms, ample parking and police monitoring. Many felt that it was an ideal event location . |
| Madison | Madison, WI | The event was held on the Alliant Energy campus and open to the public, though visitors primarily came from the surrounding office park. A local Nissan, Chevy, Ford, and BMW dealership sent vehicle for test rides/drives, as did a local electric bike retailer, electric scooter retailer, and a representative from Zero motorcycles. In addition, six EV drivers traveled to the event, which took place over the course of four hours to allow visitors to participate before, during, and after their lunch breaks. Representatives from the Midwest Renewable Energy Association, Wisconsin Clean Cities, and ChargePoint had booths at the event, and ABB sent materials to distribute. Attendance and participation were steady throughout the four hours, with the vehicles almost always out on test rides. |

| South Charleston | South Charleston, WV | Our first event was located on a downtown street next to the South Charleston Public Library. The event ran smoothly from 10 to 1. The library and the city were very accommodating to our event. We set up with with a couple canopies, a WVEAA banner we've used at other events, and some chairs. We had a cooler of water bottles on ice as refreshments, although no one picked up any during the event. Probably about half the folks that stopped by know about the event ahead of time, from either an article in the regional newspaper, or from social media. All the drivers stayed busy chatting with visitors the entire time. A couple of drivers gave rides to folks. There seemed to be a lot more interest in the BEVs than the hybrids. Especially the shiny new Bolt EV and the Teslas. Folks really enjoyed their rides. A couple folks came specifically to look and ride in different models because they are going to purchase an EV. This was our first event and we will do better next year. |

IKEA was kind enough to reserve a portion of their parking lot for us, and they even gave us some space right at the front door to park a Nissan Leaf. We got a lot of attention at the door, and from there people were directed to visit us in the parking lot where we had several EV's and owners answering questions and discussing just how easy life with an EV can be. |

| Sechelt | Sechelt, BC | Here on the west coast of Canada, the 3rd Annual Sechelt EV Festival was another big success. While circumstances forced us to abandon our previous waterfront site, the weather was perfect and the new venue (adjacent to our local Farmers Market, a Wood Expo and a local shopping mall, not to mention 4 Level 2 chargers and a DC charger, within a few feet) made this the biggest event ever. All 3 Tesla models attended (the Model 3 doesn't count since they're not in Canada, yet!) We also had the usual strong contingent of Nissan Leafs and SmartEVs with many other new models joining for the first time - 4 Bolts, 2 Fiat 500Es, 2 Kia Souls, e-bikes plus not-for-profit groups promoting EV's. | Victoria | Victoria, BC | The fourth year that DriveElectricVictoria has held an NDEW event, we rented the entire parking lot of a middle school on a Sunday. One little problem came up: the church across the street uses that lot without permission and the parishioners behaved very poorly towards our traffic marshal. But they were gone once our event was in full swing. There were many, many positive comments throughout the day, lots and lots of thank-you’s from guests, and a few emails like this one: "I attended your event today. I found it very friendly and informative. Thank you to all of your club for putting on this event.” The “feeling” of the whole event was very relaxed and friendly and that was because all our volunteer owners and workers contributed in a positive way. We even had volunteer EV owners show up from out of town offering rides. What a great community! About half our guests had never ridden in an EV before. That was our ultimate target market. Overall very happy how the event ran. |
| West Kelowna | West Kelowna, BC | It was a great time. Lots of people with lots of questions. We only had 10 cars but we put green flags in our windows and I drive the mascot witch is a 1998 go green converted car with go green decals all over it that I just got barely finished in time for the show. ( I will send you a picture ) Lots of people saw us because we drove like a parade for about an hour and a half. Drove through West Bank then through Peach land then back up the hwy into Kelowna then up pandosy and the down gorden back to the hwy finishing at Best Western Hotel. There we all charged our cars. sorry We didn't get a picture of the group just single pictures of owners with there cars so I guess I will send one of me and my car. We had the Kia Soul and Tesla Model S that was very popular among West Vancouver residents. Lots of interest about charging stations in the area since Park Royal mall was nearby with the new Tesla store. |

I think this year we had a more knowledgeable crowd with much better questions. James Become, Leader of the Green Party of Manitoba attended. Other politicians do not; current Manitoba administration is against EVs and any encouragement of EV adoption. |

| Halifax | Halifax, NS | Our event drew around 500 attendees. Cars available for test drive were 2 I-MiEVs and a Nissan Leaf. Cars on display included 2 Nissan Leafs, 2 Tesla Model S, 2 Tesla Model X, 1 Porsche Cayenne, 1 Volvo XC-90, 1 Ford Fusion Electric, 1 Porsche Cayenne, 1 I-Miev. This I-MiEV on display from NSCC is two-way enabled and actually powered the radio station for the entire second half of the event. Also, the Porsche 919 was on display, which won the Le Mans Championship multiple times. This car is a test-bed for their hybrid and electric race cars, and will be retired to convert to all-electric racing. In addition to the vehicles, Dalhousie displayed battery technology research and there were events for children and a free BBQ provided by Nova Scotia Power. Finally, there were electric bicycle and electric segway test drives as well. |
| Barrie | Barrie, ON | A really good first effort for our area. Attendance was greater than anticipated. mainly through social media and one radio interview conducted earlier the same day. One city councillor (who also is an EV owner) participated. Our local group also made good connections with other regional EV groups and look forward to building a bigger presence for next year! |
| Kitchener | Kitchener, ON | This year we secured Kitchener City Hall as an event location, we purchased lawn Signs, and they were placed throughout our region. We were able to get a radio show interview and our local TV station did a segment a week before the event. Saturday Sept 16th was picture perfect weather wise, and we had our largest turn out ever (this was our 3rd year). We also had 4 local politicians drop by the event this year. | Ottawa | Ottawa, ON | We conducted an electric car rally from Ottawa to Merrickville, a distance of about 60km. We travelled to Merrickville in a convoy along a scenic route. At Merrickville we had lunch together. One additional electric car enthusiast met us in Merrickville after driving up from New York State. While in Merrickville many visitors to the historic town had an opportunity to see many electric cars and ask us about the vehicles. We had 11 Tesla's (10 Model S and 1 X), 2 Bolts and 1 e- golf in the car rally. Over 28 people participated in the event Over lunch together, th discussion centred on electric vehicles and future infrasture issues for electric vehicles. | Toronto - Brampton | Toronto - Brampton, ON | This being the first year for Toronto - Brampton it was GREAT!!! We were part of a ICE Classic Car Show in it's 11th year a fundraiser for Prostrate Cancer and had 600+ ICE cars and owners with a lot of questions - The 2 Tesla X gave us the draw to talk to people about all EVs and when the Tesla's did "Easter Egg" with flapping doors the crowd was over the top. Looking forward to 2018 more EVs and more interest. |

Our members gave rides as well as our local GM dealer (Reaume GM in LaSalle) brought two Volts for test drives. Chrysler provided their own Pacifica e-Hybrid which is made in the plant just 15 minutes from our event, and a local 444 Unifor union representative drove it over. We were featured on local CTV News that evening. |

| Aalborg | Aalborg, Denmark | The whole center of Aalborg, which is a city with appx. 225.000 citizens, is the whole week focusing on sustainability. Food, clothes, energy and off cource transportation - our contribution we named "Electric cars for all", and we had a large area of 750 square meters available on the waterfront for electric cars, electric mopeds, charging solutions and as a starting point for electric car test runs. From electric car dealers and importers we had borrowed 5 different electric cars for trial runs, in addition, both private and dealer electric cars were shown. For the sake of good service, we had been granted extraordinary permission to drive in the city center, which is normally reserved for buses. Therefore, we always had smaller groups of electric cars circulating between squares and seats, to get even further with the good electric car message. Aalborg is a university city, with many foreign students, so there were many nationalities that showed great interest in our cars. |

We had the Renault Zoe, Hyundai IONIQ and Nissan LEAF on display at the market and spoke to about 50 people each day. From that event we have been invited to speak 3 additional events, one at the Whangarei Rotary South Club (43 members and guests in attendance), Uni 3 (University for seniors 8 Students in attendance) and Automobile Club of New Zealand (14 members in attendance). At each event we gave test rides before the meeting and then a presentation for the meeting. |
