Day: | TBD NOTE: this event has already happened, find current-year events on the Attend page. |
Location: | Driftwood Mall 2751 Cliffe Avenue Courtenay, BC V9N2L8 |
Come learn about greener waste management, improved local transit, municipal planning to decrease our ecological footprint, AND Electric Cars.
How can any car be green? Well, the electrification of transit--especially in an area with primarily renewal sources of power (hydro)--can cut personal carbon emissions by as much as 30 to 40%, or enough to comply with the 2030 goals of the Paris Accord on reducing such emissions.
Volunteers from the Comox Valley Electric Vehicle Association will be at the Driftwood Mall in the atrium beside London Drugs with a mini electric car (for kids under about 6 or 40 kgs), a table to colour your favourite electric vehicle and take it home with you, another table to add your design ideas to a contest to create the newest BC specialty license plate for zero-emissions-vehicles (ZEVs), and a looping video of all the best new electric vehicle advertisements.
Of course come to ask any question about purchase rebates on a new or used EV, where to get one, and why. Come hear about the significant lifetime savings of riding or driving electric, the positive impact of EVs on local air quality, farm produce growth rates, local economic development, and reducing the threat of climate change.
2020 will be the year our future vision becomes perfectly clear: a breakthrough year in sales of e-bikes, electric cars, electric boats (yes our newest ferries!), and even commercial electric airplanes (Harbour Air).
Join the movement, or be swept up by it.
