Event Report

The event was co-hosted by Récolte Energy, the Sierra Club of Napa, MCE (our electricity supplier), and the Clean Vehicle Rebate Project. MCE, BAAQMD / Clean Cars for All, Students for Climate Action, West Coast Solar Energy, Napa Valley Transportation Authority, Napa Climate Now!, and the Clean Vehicle Rebate Project had tables at the event. We brought in a food truck too.

Dealers brought their Nissan Leaf, Chevy Bolt, Mitsubishi Outlander, Hyundai Kona, and Pedego e-bikes. NVTA arranged for a BYD electric bus to be on site. EV owners brought their Teslas (all three models), Chevy Bolt and Volt, Hyundai Ioniq, VW e-Golf, Nissan Leaf, Ford Focus, converted Porsche 211, and a Switch vehicle built by high school students.

Between 200 and 300 people, including a Napa County Supervisor and a city of Napa council member, attended over a period of three hours.

This year most people didn't ask for rides. Only a few test-drove the dealers' vehicles. Many, however, took e-bike rides. The attendees spent most of their time asking the EV owners questions about their cars, and CVRP and others about their rebates. The attendees also showed a lot of interest in the converted and kit-built EVs.

Here is a link to a newspaper article written about the event.

Event Description

Current models of electric vehicles (EV) will be on display and their owners available to answer questions and offer rides between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Napa Valley College during National Drive Electric Week.

Learn from EV drivers and enthusiasts about the thrill of owning and driving an EV, charging it at home, never having to go to a gas station, savings vis-à-vis gas cars, etc.

EV and e-bike dealers will offer test drives and rides.

See if you are a candidate for an EV by taking a virtual test drive with the MyGreenCar app and comparing the costs and benefits of EVs and gas cars using WattPlan. Visit PlugStar to compare vehicles, get equipped, and discover incentives.
