Event Report

It rained for over two hours during the National Drive Electric Week - Livonia event.  But despite the weather, we had 30 electric vehicles on display for the event at the National Drive Electric Week - Livonia event on Saturday, September 25th at Schoolcraft College. This event was hosted by the City of Livonia Greenleaf Commission. It was supported by Plug In America, City of Livonia, Michigan, Consumers Energy, DTE Energy, and Schoolcraft College.

U.S. Congresswomen Haley Stevens (D-MI 11th District) opened the event.  She made it a point to visit with all EV owners and learn about electric vehicles. Livonia Council members Laura Toy and Rob Donovic also stopped by the event and discussed EVs with their owners.

The participants enjoyed the Schoolcraft College venue. There was a ChargePoint charging station located in the event area.  When EV owners were done charging their vehicles, several wanted to be part of the event.  We just told them to park their vehicles in the display area and enjoy the event.
This was the City of Livonia’s first National Drive Electric Week event. It was very well received by all participants (despite the rainy weather!). I feel this event demonstrates that the Livonia community is preparing for the future of transportation.  In addition, we are educating our community on the benefits of “driving electric”!
