Event Report
20 EVs were on display at the Devonshire
Mall parking lot for the annual National Drive Electric Week event.
Electric Vehicle Society Windsor-Essex chapter held this event alongside many
other locations throughout North America. This event was a good opportunity
for the public to ask EV owners about particular models or regards to making
the transition. Despite a little rain delay, the event was a
success with many EV society members participating with their EV’s on
display. In addition to some quick drive-by questions, at least 30
visitors participated in some good educational discussions. This year’s
discussions were a little different as the public was more confident that EVs
were in their future. They were with an open mind but were present with more
detailed questions than ever before. Many knew what type/size, or model
or vehicle they were looking for and many were interested in learning more
about the Windsor-built Pacifica PHEV. There were more pure electric
vehicles (BEVs) versus Plug-in Hybrid Electric vehicles on display than ever
before, and some of the public were asking for a pure electric Minivan
option. There was even a demonstration of Tesla’s Smart Summons feature
in the parking lot. There were being driven remotely with the use of the
owner’s cell phone at slow speeds to a commanded nearby location.

Event Description
The Devonshire Mall is hosting EV Society Windsor-Essex at the North West parking lot (the old Sears lot) as electric cars of many makes and models will be on display by their owners.
EV owners and visitors are welcome to participate in a physically distant event. Join the display with your EV or come and ask owners about their EV experience. Please register here if you are planning to attend with or without an EV.
