Overview: 4CORE hosted an electric vehicle event as part of National Drive Electric Week on Saturday, September 25, 2021. The event took place from 10am-2pm outdoors at the La Plata County Fairgrounds. The event highlighted the EV ownership experience. Local EV drivers were invited to come and show off their vehicles with our community and to share what it is really like to drive an EV.  In addition, the City of Durango was in attendance talking about how EVs tie in to their sustainability plan, La Plata Electric Association had a demo home EV charger on display advertising their free home charger program, local dealership Morehart-Murphy brought a new 2022 Chevy Bolt and the Taco's La Carranza food truck served up delicious lunch. The community had the opportunity to spin a prize wheel and answers questions about EVs for a chance to win prizes ranging from swag to gift cards.

Our community was excited for the opportunity to view, sit in and learn about so many different vehicles from the  owners themselves! It was great to have a diverse crowd that included younger and older generations.

With the Electrify America grant funding, we were able to advertise the event via print, social media and radio advertising, which positively impacted our turnout.

Vehicles on display: Multiple Nissan Leafs, Chevy Bolts, a Ford Mustang Mach E, Chevy Volts, a Fiat 500e, multiple Tesla (Model 3s and Ys). The Fiat was a crowd favorite as it was a standout baby blue color and people were surprised to learn it was electric!
