Event Report
No celebrities attended but those that came out to see the cars and documentary were very enthusiastic. We also had a couple that provide solar installation of all sizes and a fellow that installs charging stations. Five hundred dollars was raised toward the installation of a charging station at The Allen Theatre. It was a well rounded event.
Event Description
SCREENING: "Electric Road Trip": Join Jonathan Slade and Novia Campbell for a screening of their 60-minute documentary chronicling their attempt to drive a fully electric Nissan LEAF all the way across the state of Maryland. Along the way, they stop at roadside attractions, chat with locals about transportation history, meet other early adopters, and assess the current state of EV charging infrastructure. Informative and entertaining, "Electric Road Trip" was shot entirely on 4 high definition GoPro cameras, and hopes to spark conversations about how travel needs to evolve in the 21st century. Filmmaker Q&A to follow screening.
EV SHOWCASE IN FRONT OF THEATRE: Features Slade and Campbell's 2012 Nissan LEAF and BRANDON HOLLINGER's 1968 SAAB converted to electricity in 2009 (ampREVOLT.com)! Other EV owners strongly encouraged to bring vehicles!
The documentary premiered in April 2014 on public television, and screened in 7 PBS markets around the country (although not here in Pennsylvania). TICKETS: $10. A portion of the ticket sales will go toward the purchase and installation of a 240 volt charger at the historic Allen Theatre.
