Event Report
- A Proclamation was made by the Mayor of Rapid City, Steve Allender, and read by Laura Armstrong, President of City Council.
- Acknowledgements should also be given to the Rapid City Sustainability Committee who assisted in this endeavor, as well as Black Hills Energy who brought their Bolt and talked about their electric vehicle charger rebate program.
- Our event was held in conjunction with the 10th annual Cruiser Car Show and we'd like to acknowledge Main Street Square as sponsor of the larger event. The Rapid City Cruiser Car Show is normally held in July, but was postponed until October due to COVID-19. So we were lucky to be able to hold our NDEW event in conjunction with it this year. We had a better turn-out than any separate Drive Electric event we've ever had in Rapid City, including either the ones we've normally held in September or as part of our Earth Day Celebration. So we'll have to see how things work out going forward into 2021.
- We ended up having 7 EV's at the event, including 2 Teslas, 2 Chevy Bolts, 1 Hyundai Kona, 1 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, and 1 Chrysler Pacifica PHEV. The most popular vehicle was the Tesla X that drew a large crowd whenever it's musical show started playing.
Event Description
This event will be in conjunction with the 10th Annual CRUISER CAR SHOW & STREET FAIR in downtown Rapid City Main Street Square. Come enjoy the afternoon with us as we'll be practicing safe social distancing. We hope to have several plug-in EV's on display where people can see the vehicles and talk to owners and dealers about all the advantages of EV's. So come and find out what other people think and ask all the questions that are on your mind about EV's!
