Event Description
This is the 3rd year we will have this event in
the Rochester NY area. The event has moved to the Penfield Town Hall, 3100 Atlantic Ave.,
Penfield, NY 14526, which has plenty of parking,
town park areas, and access to restroom facilities.
The event is sponsored by the New York State Electric Automobile Association (NYSEAA) and Genesee Region Clean Communities (GRCC). Event partners include the Town of Penfield and the City of Rochester.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase. There are a few picnic tables on site, you may also want to bring lawn chairs.
In April this year, 24 EVSEs went live in the City of Rochester, thanks to a New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) grant. This was a part of a Federal and New York State initiative to accelerate the introduction of electric vehicle (EV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) charging stations throughout the state and to promote the adoption of EVs and PHEVs by the public. In addition, there are approximately 15 additional Level 2 public stations in Monroe County, including RIT, the Airport and several towns and villages.
This year’s event will run from 2:00 PM to 7:00PM Thursday, September 18th. Having the event during the work week will make it easier for interested folks from area companies and municipalities to attend. Representatives from Genesee Region Clean Communities (GRCC) will be attending. This is a U. S. Department of Energy sponsored program designed to encourage the use of alternative fuel vehicles. Also, various Electric Vehicle Dealers will be on site with different models of EVs. They will conduct test drives. Demonstrations will include a Solar Photovoltaic EVSE and a Level 2 charging station.
The event is open to all with on-line registration. Feel free to come at any time during the event. If you have an Electric Vehicle, please plan to be part of the EV Car Show. When you arrive, there will be Car Show placards to fill out and place on your car.
