Event Report

National Drive Electric Week Event – Millington

Saturday, 21 September 2019

Millington First Unified Methodist Church - 8029 Wilkinsville Rd, Millington, TN

The weather was perfect without any rain. We experienced a crowd of about 45 people.

There was a good mix of people interested in electric vehicles as well as existing electric vehicle owners to show and provide test drives. Jim Kerras’ Nissan was kind enough to loan us a new Leaf and a mock up charging station. The crowd was very engaged and the event resulted in the purchase of an Electric Vehicle directly after the event.

City Captain, Joe Ozegovich, working with the “Creation Care” team of the Millington First Unified Methodist Church, gave a presentation inside. A Q&A session followed the presentation with congregation EV owners, Joaquin Villarreal and Bobby Porter, participating in the discussion.  After the Q&A session, the attendees moved to the EV’s outside for show and rides.

8 Electric vehicles were available to show and ride.

  • 2 ea Tesla Model 3

  • 2 ea Chevy Bolt

  • 1 ea Tesla Model S

  • 1 ea Nissan Leaf (New)

  • 1 ea Tesla Model X

  • 1 ea Mitsubishi i MiEv

Event Description

It's shocking what you can do, without fossil fuel
Electric Vehicle (EV) Car Show

The Millington First United Methodist Church's Creation Care group is hosting this EV event.

Want to see, and experience a revolution in the making?

Electric vehicles are gaining momentum. They are the future. New models are released each year, with lower costs and longer ranges. Maintenance and operating costs are already lower. Handling and performance are also superior.

Did you know that the cost of solar power (in large installations) has come down 85% in the last 7 years?

On September Aug 21, Joe Ozegovich of Sierra Club's Chickasaw Group Executive Committee, will give a presentation on what it is like to own and operate an EV, and how to support it with clean solar energy. Joe has been an EV/Hybrid owner since 2005, and has driven his Tesla Model S from Memphis to New York and Canada and back. His presentation will cover- benefits, charging, maintenance, costs, new vehicles and solar integration.

Immediately after the presentation, visit the parking lot for a demonstration of EVs from the Memphis Metro area.
