Event Report
Final Report 2019 Drive Electric Day event Mammoth Lakes, CA.
The Event was held from 11AM-5PM September 14, 2019 at "the VIllage" in Mammoth Lakes CA; a tourist-oriented area comprised of shops, restaurants and an open plaza at one of the access points to the Mammoth Mountain ski area at 6201 Minaret Rd. The event was well attended with an estimate of 200 visitors, 67 riders, 30 volunteers and 5 additional booths. I would estimate that each EV gave 9-10 rides.
In addition to the Drive Electric registration booth we offered a table with posters displaying information about EV credits, rebates and incentives. This is where the hourly raffles with prizes donated by local businesses were held. Elsewhere adjacent to the plaza 7 drivers offered rides in 2 Tesla S’s, 4 Tesla 3’s and a Prius plug in hybrid plus static displays where owners displayed their Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan Leaf, Chevy Bolt, Tesla S and 2 Tesla 3’s. Other booths were as staffed by Citizens’ Climate Lobby, Mono 350, Southern California Edison, the local Democratic Party, the High Sierra Energy Foundation and a Berger Solar a local solar installer. Electrify America, SoCAL Edison, the Sierra Club, Plug in America, the Electric Car Association and the Mammoth Village co-sponsored the event.
We had no public officials visit the event although I did ask 3 Town Councilmembers to present the Proclamation, which we did receive and displayed it at the Registration. The County Assessor, Barry Beck, did come to display his Tesla Model 3.
We had 30 volunteers over the course of the day at various length shifts either driving, discussing the static cars, doing registration, waivers and surveys, assisting with traffic flow and passenger loading and unloading, managing the raffle, picking up food and setting up and taking down the booths.

WE advertised on Facebook, 2 local papers (The Sheet and the Mammoth Times), radio on Sierra Wave, flyers throughout town, EVA, and of course Plug in America.
Lessons Learned: I am not convinced that Facebook advertising was effective. More word of mouth seems to be the best.

Event Description
WHAT: Hundreds of electric vehicle drivers, EV enthusiasts and EV curious, will gather, to highlight the fun, clean-air benefits, and cost-savings of electric cars at Mammoth Lakes’ second National Drive Electric Week Event, “Experience Electric”. The event is part of the ninth annual National Drive Electric Week.
Owners of electric cars, including Tesla, Mitsubishi, and Chevy will offer free rides in their vehicles to share their experiences, including SUVs with plenty of room to carry recreational gear.
EV Educators will be on hand to answer questions about charging, installing charging in your home or business and the many incentives that are available (Federal, State and Local) that make driving electric accessible for every budget.
Mammoth Lakes’ event is one of more than 300 across the country where
electric vehicle owners and their neighbors will hold electric car parades,
“tailpipe-free” tailgate parties, recognition of
leaders promoting EVs, launches
of new public EV charging stations and other public events.

chance to win a free ticket to Gran Fondo 2020 and gift certificates to local
restaurants and shops in the free raffle every hour.
WHO: Mono County Commissioners, Town of Mammoth Lakes Council members, Gran Fondo cyclists, friends, family, Mammoth residents and visitors Eastern Sierra Electric Vehicle Association, chapter of Electric Auto Association, is organizing the Mammoth Lakes Event. Sierra Club and Ready for 100 are local sponsors. Electrify America, Plug In America, the Sierra Club and the Electric Auto Association are national organizers.
We are looking for owners of EV’s to provide rides to potential EV buyers. We also will need Educators and Volunteers for sign up’s, etc. Housing will be provided. This event was very successful last year so we expect great attendance.
