Event Report

The fourth year that DriveElectricVictoria has held an NDEW event, we rented the entire parking lot of a middle school on a Sunday. One little problem came up: the church across the street uses that lot without permission and the parishioners behaved very poorly towards our traffic marshal. But they were gone once our event was in full swing.

There were many, many positive comments throughout the day, lots and lots of thank-you’s from guests, and a few emails like this one: "I attended your event today. I found it very friendly and informative. Thank you to all of your club for putting on this event.” The “feeling” of the whole event was very relaxed and friendly and that was because all our volunteer owners and workers contributed in a positive way. We even had volunteer EV owners show up from out of town offering rides. What a great community!

About half our guests had never ridden in an EV before. That was our ultimate target market. Overall very happy how the event ran.

Event Description

EVs IN MOTION : Ride & Drive + EV Display -- See, ride in and drive the cars of the future... today!

See the EVs
- Take a close look at a variety of personally-owned production EVs
- Get straight answers to your questions from owners
- Find out what EV ownership is really like
- Educational event, no sales
- Free event, volunteer-"driven"

You may find EV owners are very passionate when sharing how easy, cheap, and fun it is to operate an EV

Ride in an EV
- Take a ride as a passenger in an EV driven by an owner/volunteer on a 5-10 minute drive, to *feel* the instant torque, quiet ride, and smooth acceleration, all making for a better drive or ride experience.
- Free event, volunteer-"driven"

Test Drive an EV
Take the wheel* and feel what it's like to drive an EV!  (Test drivers must be 25 years of age or older, present a valid BC driver’s license, and sign a waiver)
- Free event, volunteer-"driven"

* Subject to cars being available

WARNING! EV test drives often turn ordinary motorists into EV fanatics.

Not all EVs displayed will be available for test drives.

Test Drives are very popular and we have limited numbers of cars available, so there may be lineups.

Entire event is volunteer-"driven", and is free to attend and participate -- we can't say there's "no charge" because, well, all the cars have plenty of charge.

Thank you to School District 61 and Central Middle School principal Topher Macintosh for their support in providing the site for our green event.

We expect to have EVs from nearly all manufacturers - Tesla Models S & X, Nissan Leaf, Kia Soul, Chevrolet Volt (working on Bolt), BMW i3, Smart EV, Hyundai Ioniq.
