Event Report

Joel Levine, PIA president made opening remarks, Linda Nicholes, one of Pia Founders, had Pia booth and drew winning prize numbers, including a donated new electric lawn mower. Hosted by South Coast air Quality Management District. Sierra club booth, EAA booth, Food Trucks, Conversions, Production EVs ,and Tesla Corp test Drives. Forum with Lisa Marisola of South Coast Air Quality Management District and Wally Rippel, of JPL,
EV1, etc. and 1st transcontinental Ev race winner (1968). EV parade, 2 sets of high school volunteers who test rode in EVs and in the EV parade.

Wally Rippel, 1st national EV race winner

Wally Rippel will speak at the Drive Electric Week event on where we started where we are going with Electric Vehicles . He will also discuss the first national cross country EV race where his team from Cal Tech  finished first in the competition with  MIT. Wally worked with Batteries and induction motor drives while with JPl, was involved with the Helios Airplane and EVs at AeroEnvironment, Co founded AC Propulsion
